The Subsidiary Accounting team manages the governance processes relating to financial accounting and reporting for specific subsidiaries and for the mortgage portfolio of the Bank.

The Assistant Manager contributes to the overall success of the Subsidiary Accounting team by ensuring that goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. The Assistant Manager ensures that all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
  • Review and analyze financial results for subsidiaries, investigating variances and validating account balances for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Identify accounting and reporting issues in a timely manner and support resolution efforts with key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and process journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Develop financial reports, variance analyses, and financial statements for Boards, Audit Committees, executive management, and other stakeholders.
  • Support governance activities within the Subsidiary Accounting Centre of Excellence, including issue tracking, reconciliation monitoring, and control oversight.
  • Build strong partnerships across the Bank to deliver exceptional service and leverage organizational knowledge, systems, and resources.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to Subsidiary Accounting team members and GBS Bogotá colleagues.
  • Collaborate with GBS Bogotá to identify process improvement opportunities and implement operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure day-to-day activities align with the Bank's risk appetite, risk culture, and internal control framework.
  • Maintain effective business controls and support compliance with operational risk, regulatory, AML/ATF, and conduct risk requirements.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors by coordinating audit requests, providing documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Contribute to special projects, including system upgrades, implementations, testing initiatives, and finance transformation activities.
  • Act as a backup resource for GBS Bogotá to support business continuity requirements.
  • Provide guidance and subject matter expertise to team in Bogota, Colombia on end-to-end activities for specific subsidiaries and the Bank's mortgage portfolio
  • Supports all activities related to accounting, reporting, and audit requirements (both internal and external, e.g. OSFI, etc)

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) completed or in progress is preferred.
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in financial accounting, financial reporting, or controllership functions within a large, complex organization is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (IFRS), and financial statement preparation.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial statements, assess account balances, and investigate variances.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting financial documentation.
  • Proficiency with financial systems and reporting tools, including PeopleSoft EGL, OBI/Smart View, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality of work.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams, stakeholders, and geographic locations.
  • Spanish language skills are considered an asset.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours during quarter-end and year-end reporting periods, with occasional overtime required throughout the year to meet business deadlines.
