Full Job Description
This position is an anticipated vacancy. It is expected to be vacant by 08/17/2026. However, the current incumbent has a right to rescind their retirement, leave, or resignation up until the day of the expected vacancy date. Your hire will not be confirmed until the position is vacated, and you may start the year as a Long-Term Substitute if the position does not become vacant by the start of the school year.

Reports to: Principal/Head of School

Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in the supervision of all staff and assumes the duties of the Principal/Head of School when they are not on the premises.
  2. Implements the Code of Discipline and maintains the safety and security of the building and grounds.
  3. Supervises the arrival and departure of students; supervises the behavior of students in the common areas of the building and grounds.
  4. Seeks funding to enhance the cultural and academic programs at the school.
  5. Uses data to guide academic goals to assist the Principal/Head of School in the preparation of Whole School Improvement document.
  6. Assists the Principal/Headmaster in their managerial duties including:a. Supervises maintenance of the building and grounds b. Coordinates purchases and delivery of supplies and equipment c. Supervises maintenance of personnel and student records d. Prepares reports and statistics of school operations e. Prepares and maintains the master schedule within planning parameters established by Principal f. Implements the attendance policy g. Serves as liaison between the school and the transportation providers.
  7. Supervises substitute teachers, including arranging for coverage, ensuring that substitute folders are up to date and available for monitoring and evaluating performance.
  8. Assists the Principal/Headmaster in planning activities including coordinating curriculum, instruction, student's, volunteers and parent activities, and student support services.
  9. Engages the wider community to support school goals.
  10. Writes evaluations for all assigned teachers and support staff.
  11. Assumes other related duties as requested by the Principal/Headmaster.


Qualifications Required:
  1. Masters Degree in Education or related field.
  2. Three (3) years experience successful teaching experience
  3. Massachusetts license for School Principal/Assistant Principal (grades specific).
  4. Demonstrated leadership qualities, interpersonal skills and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators and parents.
  5. Ability to establish a multi-cultural atmosphere that enhances individual growth and promotes a positive self-image.
  6. Experience with budget preparation and implementation.
  7. Advanced technology skills
  8. Experience with full process involved in development and implementation of master schedule.


Qualifications Preferred:
  1. Teaching experience in a 7-12 educational setting in a core content area.
  2. Experience as a school administrator.
  3. International Baccalaureate programs experience preferred
  4. Experience designing and implementing professional development around race and equity and serving as a resource for students and staff around these issues
  5. Prior work with progressive discipline, restorative justice, and implementation of the BPS Code of Conduct
  6. Experience in large, fast-paced school environments with significant extra-curricular commitments, extremely high levels of email communication, and parent engagement with a diverse, multilingual population
  7. Knowledge of practices and policies supporting English Language Learners and experience working to ensure compliance as well as positive school experiences for students with varying ELD levels
  8. Comfort with dis-aggregating large data sets and presenting them for analysis to faculty and staff
