Job Description

The Department of Auxiliary Services at the College of Southern Nevada generates and manages business through an array of non-academic services that CSN students, faculty, and staff need and value. Auxiliary Services include printing services, graphic design, copier and printer programs, motor pool services, and campus identification services. Auxiliary Services also manages contracted services including bookstore operations, transportation services, vending services, food, and catering services. The functions assigned to the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Services serve a critical role in the delivery and support of essential services to the College.

This position encompasses a variety of complex tasks that primarily include, but are not limited to, financial planning, budget oversight, oversight of data and analytics tools, and oversight of CSN's Inclusive Access course material program. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director of Auxiliary Services on financial management and fiduciary responsibilities for all Auxiliary accounts, contracts, self-supporting accounts, and state appropriated funds. The Assistant Director will engage in ongoing budgetary strategies, including assessment and projections, and will oversee planning and development for all data and assessment. Compilation and delivery of complex reports related to data and financial management to college leadership is expected.

All but one of the functions assigned to Auxiliary Services are self-supporting or revenue generating, and thus constant interaction, review, and intervention is required to ensure operational efficiency, performance by third party contractors, accurate billing, proper accounting, and addressing vendor concerns and issues. The incumbent must successfully balance constituent needs, contract obligations, cost considerations, budget impact, and service delivery in the decision making and implementation processes, and the incumbent must communicate operational status accurately and succinctly to college management and internal stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 years related professional experience.
  • Financial planning and budget management experience.
  • Experience preparing detailed, accurate, and timely reporting.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with proposal formulation, scope of work, and the assessment of vendor proposals.
  • Contract formulation/negotiation, contract monitoring, and understanding contract provisions.
  • Knowledge of NSHE policies and procedures and policy implementation.


The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of unique budget processes and systems for CSN and the Nevada System of Higher Education (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft, and Contracts +).
  • Knowledge of the Qlik Sense data analytics platform.
  • Knowledge of personnel management.
  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Make decisions and take actions independently for a variety of diverse situations.
  • Show a high degree of creativity and initiative.


Salary information:

Administrative Faculty D - The starting salary is $95,588.

*This position is contingent upon ongoing and available funding.
