  • Manage global consolidations and foreign currency transactions.
  • Prepare detailed financial statements and support forecasting processes.
  • Assist with quarterly compliance certificate package for CFO.
  • Coordinate annual audits with global teams and understand audit workpapers.
  • Mentor accounting staff to ensure accuracy and compliance in activities.
  • Analyze supplier invoices, collaborate on cash forecasting, and manage working capital.

Position Overview

The Assistant Controller reports to the Corporate Controller providing consultation and advice to the Controller and CFO. Partners with global accounting and operational teams ensuring that the financial statements satisfy all US GAAP requirements. Supports Elessent's external audit, internal controls and general accounting processes and procedures. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, effective member of the finance team. The successful candidate should possess strong technical skills, must possess robust accounting and reporting experience and be a proven team member.

Job functions and responsibilities:
  • Support Corporate Controller for the oversight of Elessent's accounting in accordance with US GAAP
  • Support the Controller in driving process efficiencies in daily tasks, the close process, and in the identification of process improvements through AI, automation, leveraging systems and in the cross training of employees including improving the accounting system functionality
  • Ensure month-end is closed accurately in accordance with established deadlines and standards
  • Work with the Controller and accounting teams on any system or internal controls changes that are being proposed to understand implications to Elessent
  • Work with the Controller and global accounting teams on implementation of new accounting standards and provide accounting support to appropriately document accounting conclusions
  • Review any accounting policy changes and non-standard transactions summarizing the impact on Elessent's financial statements ensuring compliance with GAAP
  • Support a robust internal control environment designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This includes maintaining related policies and procedures.
  • Develop and employ best practices, policies, and processes to monitor and ensure appropriate control environment
  • Own the general ledger, prepare and review journal entries, arrange and manage account reconciliations/analysis for balance sheet and income statement accounts with account owners
  • Manage global consolidations and foreign currency transactions
  • Support preparation of detailed monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements and analysis
  • Assist with forecast and planning processes as necessary
  • Support preparation of quarterly Credit Agreement compliance certificate package for the CFO
  • Coordinate annual audits through thorough understanding of audit workpapers while working closely with global accounting and operations groups
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to accounting staff, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of accounting activities
  • Analyze supplier invoices and collaborate with the Treasurer and CFO to review cash flow requirements, support cash forecasting, and optimize working capital management
  • Support M&A activity for accounting analysis and financial integration
  • Support other projects as needed


Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and experience:
  • 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university; CPA/CMA and MBA preferred
  • Strong US GAAP understanding with public accounting experience highly desirable
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills applying multi-discipline approaches using Microsoft Office and ERPs
  • High competency in problem solving, creativity, and organizational skills while demonstrating sound judgement
  • Ability to multitask and reprioritize while efficiently working under deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex accounting matters to senior executive financial and operating management clearly and concisely, both in written and verbal formats, within a multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to travel internationally on occasion; if needed
