Job Description:

The Assistant Controller supports in overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with GAAP and cost accounting standards. This position is responsible for month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, revenue recognition, cost analysis in standard cost environment, financial reporting, and budget support.

What will my responsibilities include?
  • Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
  • Classifies, summarizes and records financial transactions in accordance with governing accounting principles.
  • Provide support of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Prepare and/or review revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents.
  • Manage the monthly close process including preparation/review of journal entries.
  • Prepare account reconciliations. Identify and research variances. Prepare detailed support schedules.
  • Prepare and provide analysis of monthly financial reports and variances.
  • Record all monthly and year-end accruals.
  • Prepare various quarterly and annual tax returns.
  • Prepare year-end audit schedules and assist with the annual external audit.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Preparing various miscellaneous costing reports.
  • Monitor production and expense transactions and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Various routine system functions - closing jobs, journal postings, etc.
  • Assist with annual physical inventory process.
  • Contribute to further development of ERP system functionality. Streamlines accounting processes where possible.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Accounting experience with exposure in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • 2+ years in standard costing, job costing, or manufacturing cost accounting.
  • Experience with standard cost variance analysis and cost control systems.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 35% of the time. This position may be required to enter the warehouse and/or machine shop environment at times throughout the work day; this environment may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes and vapor from coolant, etc. This position is part of a team and requires excellent communication skills. It is fast-paced with daily deadlines. This position requires the ability to use computer keyboard and mouse, multi-line phone and various other office machines and equipment. Work requires the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Salary Offering: $108,960.00 - $150,000.00 annually
