Full Job Description
Action Property Management, a premier management company, is seeking a full-time Assistant Chief Engineer for The Infinity property in San Francisco.

The Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer in overseeing the maintenance and operations of the building. This role involves performing a variety of tasks, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment failures, and responding to emergency calls and overseeing the maintenance and engineering team. The Assistant Chief Engineer must be highly skilled in building systems and have a strong commitment to resident satisfaction.

Compensation: $51 to $53 per hour

Schedule: Monday- Friday; 9:00 AM- 5:30 PM + On-Call

What You'll Do (Job Duties)

  • Maintenance & Repairs: Perform and oversee the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, fire protection systems, and other building components. Ensuring optimum performance.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency calls and coordinate repairs.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures and implement effective solutions.
  • Project Management: Assist with project planning and implementation, including renovations and upgrades.
  • Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships and oversee contract performance.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and building codes and environmental laws. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address potential violations.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and assist with other administrative duties. Create, update and complete all assigned common area work orders using BuildingLink.
  • Staff Management: Manage and supervise a team of maintenance engineers. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and address performance issues. Provide training and development opportunities.
  • Resident Relations: Promote a supportive and safe living environment. Address resident complaints and concerns related to building systems. Educate residents on proper use of building amenities and equipment as needed.


Who You Are (Skills/Experience)

  • Minimum of 5 years of residential or commercial high rise building engineering experience. Experience leading a maintenance crew is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire protection systems.
  • Knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Building Code
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management skills, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be available to work overtime and respond to after hour emergency situations. Filling in for the Chief Engineer, General Manager, or Operations Manager when needed.
  • Must be proficient with the ability to use the following programs: BuildingLink, HIPPO, Microsoft Office Suite, and Building Management Systems.
  • Must be able to formulate and create written reports based on the findings of logical trouble shooting for both the Chief Engineer and Management.
  • Must be available for on-call duties as a first responder for building emergencies as needed.
  • Must be able to perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.


Certifications/Licenses

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent. A college degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • EPA 608 certification.
  • HVAC certification.
  • Fire, Life and Safety Certification.
  • High Rise Life Safety Director Certificate (or be in the process of acquiring the certification).
  • CPO - Pool and Spa daily testing (or be in the process of acquiring the certification).
  • Weekly Fire Pump Certification - (or be willing to acquire such certification within 12 months).
  • Must have reliable transportation to the property in the event of emergencies.
