Job Description:

As a hybrid Area Technical Specialist at Pitney Bowes for our Presort Services facilities, you will work under the supervision of the Technical Specialist Director to ensure customer satisfaction by supporting the site Technical Services team to ensure closure of technical escalation with a sense of urgency.

Your annual base salary range is $80,000 to $95,000. You will also be eligible for a 20% annual field bonus.

This is a Hybrid role. The Area Technical Specialist will travel at least 65% of their time.

You will be onsite on a regular basis at a Presort Services facility when you are not travelling to other locations.

You will need to be based in close proximity to one of our Presort Services facility in the following locations:
  • Aurora, Illinois
  • Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Reading or Levittown, Pennsylvania
  • Dallas, Texas
  • Milwaukee, Wisconsin
  • Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Atlanta, Georgia


The Area Technical Specialist keeps current updates with latest technology to ensure high level of performance of our production equipment. The Area Technical Specialist oversees equipment support and training of all production equipment within the network.

You are a performance-driven contributor who will manage most equipment moves within the area while also providing hands-on technical training, phone support and emergency on-site technical support as needed (Tier-2 escalation). You are a Proactive individual who acts with purposefulness and speed by identifying areas that need improvement and acting upon those findings to quickly resolve issues.

You will:
  • Coordinate and lead equipment moves.
  • Assist with MASS and MPE testing of the equipment.
  • Work closely with the site teams and local vendors to move, disassemble, reassemble and/or scrap equipment.
  • Conduct equipment assessments and ensure software on equipment is current.
  • Provide hands-on technical training, Remote escalation support and emergency on-site technical support as needed.
  • Assist site techs and analyze data to determine and address root cause issues.
  • Thoroughly document the solutions to escalate the equipment issues in an escalation tracking tool.
  • Assist with improving the AI troubleshooting solution tool.


Your background as an Area Technical Specialist, you have:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a technician or above in a production environment demonstrating extensive knowledge of a variety of presort equipment.
  • The ability to travel at least 65% of the time.
  • High level knowledge of various sorter vendor operations and functionalities.
  • Proficient knowledge of Octave (formerly HxGN or INFOR), as well as Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Strong mechanical and electronic maintenance knowledge with solid understanding of multiple presort production equipment types.
  • You must have experience with 2 or more of the following equipment and performance factors for:
    • Koerber (formerly Siemens)
    • BlueCrest
    • NPI
    • Fluence
    • EII
    • Tritek
    • VideoJet)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Must have a clean driving record for the last 3 years.
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills to meet critical deadlines.
  • The ability to collaborate and work well with others, influence without authority, effectively assess, train, and develop others.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.


Preferred:
  • Ability to prepare reports and measure equipment and team performance.
  • Technical Certificate, Associate's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Mechanical or related field.
  • Production experience, preferably in the presort, mailing, direct mail, or other associated industry.
