Qualifications and Detail about the Position

Broad Function

The Area HSEQ Manager is responsible for the implementation, direction and compliance of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality programs, policies, and procedures, within a defined operational area, for the purpose of reducing accidental losses and protecting company assets. This position focuses on ensuring workers, vendor, contractor, and customer safety and acts as a resource and subject matter expert for area managers, providing insight and training.

Essential Functions

  • Promote, demonstrate, and instill Brock's Bsafe and Bbest culture in all aspects of the business
  • Oversee and direct activities of site HSEQ personnel, effectively delegating work, holding employees accountable, giving feedback and coaching for improved performance
  • Identify, document, and recommend resolution of hazardous conditions; follow through to ensure corrections have been made, issue verbal and written warnings and implement other corrective actions as required
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationship with site leadership, internal and external
  • Conduct weekly and quarterly HSEQ audits of work locations (inspections with insurance representatives and clients, state, and federal safety inspectors)
  • Investigate injury and property damage incidents, including taking statements of witnesses, injured employees, and preparing follow-up documentation
  • Manage, verify, and submit all documentation related to accidents / injuries, including supporting materials such as data, photographs, drawings, etc.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate HSE and quality programs at sites for effectiveness, identifying and implementing improvement initiatives where necessary
  • Responsible for conducting and ensuring HSEQ compliance training is completed and up to date at all regional locations
  • Ensure HSEQ documentation and records are maintained properly across all sites
  • Participate in all project-related start up meetings, and Owner/Prime Contractor directed safety meetings, to ensure adherence to all safe and healthy work practices
  • Partner with Owner/Prime Contractor Supervisory and Safety personnel to control and alleviate hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities
  • Assist in the supervision of medical care and rescue activities
  • Assist in arranging local medical care and facilities at out-of-town project site which are in accordance with Brock policies and procedures regarding drug testing, pre-employment physicals and industrial injuries
  • Conduct inventory count on project sites when a property loss is suspected
  • Implement and oversee quality assurance audits
  • Understand and support site quality management systems
  • Work with QMS Manager to drive continuous improvement
  • Liaise with site Quality Control Manager to drive adherence to quality assurance procedures
  • Inspect equipment and coordinate efforts to ensure defective equipment is repaired or discarded.
  • Investigate the loss of equipment or assets
  • Partner with other Safety and Security personnel to include law enforcement personnel as necessary to accomplish assigned tasks
Working Conditions

  • Utilization of Personal Protective Equipment is necessary
  • Frequent travel as required

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety or related field, or related technical discipline, SMS, OHST, CHST, ASP, etc.
  • 5+ years related HSE experience
  • Direct experience in field industry required
  • Certification preferred (CSP, CIH, CHMM, OHST, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local health, safety and environmental regulations is essential
