Summary: The Architect & Designer (A&D) Business Development Manager drives profitable growth by identifying, developing, and converting specification opportunities throughout California. This role blends market development, specification selling, education, and strategic account management while partnering with Regional Sales Managers, OSRs, dealers, contractors, and builders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Business Development and Account Growth- Identify and qualify architectural, builder, designer and developer opportunities.
- Build and manage a specification pipeline following the Woodgrain Sales Process.
- Develop territory strategies with sales leadership.
- Create specified demand through architects, builders, dealers and contractors.
- Maintain CRM opportunity pipeline.
- Ability to work with and understand complex channels & distribution models.
- Drive incremental growth in the region and accelerate the adoption of new products.
Sales Enablement and Training- Present CEUs and product education.
- Lead joint sales calls with RSMs and OSRs.
- Coordinate plant tours and customer events.
- Represent Woodgrain at AIA, ASID and industry associations.
- Drive awareness with local municipalities, Cities, Counties, and State.
Pipeline Management and Performance Management- Monitor market trends and competitive activity.
- Support product launches and specification tools.
- Provide market intelligence to Product Management.
- Build and nurture a specification network through various activities to engage with the audience.
- Develop project specifications with specifiers to include projects across our brands.
Category Strategy- Monitor market pricing and recommend adjustments to maintain competitive positioning.
- Evaluate current product assortment to ensure competitive positioning and market relevance.
- Work with internal teams to develop, launch, and promote new product lines.
- Monitor sales performance by product category to inform assortment adjustments.
- Work closely with supply chain to ensure proper forecasting and safety stock
- Understanding material aesthetics and project priorities by balancing technical and design sales approaches.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in business related field is preferred with at least 2 years of management related experience. If being promoted from within our organization, previous management experience is not required.
Other Skills and Abilities: The BDM must have a competitive attitude and desire to succeed. The employee should be skilled at Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. They should have the ability to prioritize daily workflow, multitask and meet deadlines. They should have accuracy, discretion, excellent communication skills both oral and written, and attention to detail a must. The Sales Manager must have time management skills, be self-motivated, able to build relationships, and maintain a positive attitude at all times. Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public. This position requires significant travel with overnight stays. This requires the possession of a valid state driver's license.
Supervisory Requirements: This position does not manage or supervise.
