Lead Mainframe Architect DevOps Modernization

Role Description

Seeking an experienced Lead Mainframe Architect with strong expertise in IBM Z DevOps and enterprise modernization. The role focuses on designing modern DevOps pipelines bridging traditional z OS environments with Git based development practices implementing automated CI CD workflows and driving large scale mainframe modernization initiatives. The candidate will lead source code management migration application modernization automation and hybrid cloud integration while collaborating with enterprise architecture infrastructure security and development teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design build and optimize enterprise CI CD pipelines for z OS applications using IBM Dependency Based Build DBB Jenkins GitHub Actions GitLab CI CD and Azure DevOps

Lead migration from legacy Mainframe source code management systems including CA Endevor ChangeMan Panvalet and SCLM to Git based repositories

Architect and integrate Zowe Zowe Explorer Zowe CLI Z Open Automation Utilities ZOAU and REST APIs with enterprise Mainframe infrastructure

Develop automated build packaging deployment and release automation using Groovy Python YAML and REXX

Drive application modernization using IBM watsonx Code Assistant for Z including code analysis refactoring and modernization initiatives

Design hybrid cloud integrations using z OS Connect Enterprise Edition and RESTful APIs

Promote modern developer experience through IBM Developer for z OS IDz Visual Studio Code IBM Z Open Editor and automated testing frameworks

Implement automated testing using zUnit Galasa and related Mainframe testing frameworks

Collaborate with DevOps Infrastructure Security Cloud and Enterprise Architecture teams to establish release governance and engineering best practices

Provide technical leadership architecture guidance mentoring and support for Mainframe modernization and DevOps adoption

Maintain architecture documentation deployment standards technical specifications and modernization roadmaps
