Job Description
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida is seeking an Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant that will function within a clinical team of professionals working autonomously in relation to the complete management of children and young people, complementing other professionals in the delivery of high-quality service provision. This position uses clinical judgment and autonomous decision-making skills in relation to assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients, and undertaking a range of clinical actions and professional boundaries following assessment of patient need and care requirements.
Responsibilities
Clinical - 90%
Performs professional nurse practitioner or physician assistant care according to established standards, practices, protocols and in accordance with the Florida Practice act for Advanced Nurse Practitioners. This includes performing initial components of assessment of patient condition, including history and physical etc. Provides clinical teaching experience for Masters of Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant students.
Administrative - 10%
Clinical administrative duties such as closing encounters, patient correspondence, clinical tasks, etc.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
Qualifications
MINIMUM: Master's or Medical degree from of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise an accredited institution in an appropriate field qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
ADDITIONAL MINIMUM: This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64, or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in a Pediatrics facility. Spanish or Haitian Creole language proficiency preferred.
