OverviewThe Apprentice Program Trainer is responsible for the execution of training initiatives within the company's Apprenticeship Program, ensuring high-quality instruction and compliance with NCCER standards. This position requires NCCER Instructor Certification and recognized subject matter expertise in the applicable craft disciplines. The Apprenticeship Program Trainer I will collaborate closely with the Apprenticeship Program Specialists and is accountable for maintaining comprehensive knowledge of curriculum requirements, testing procedures, instructional materials, training environments, and safety protocols to ensure effective facilitation and successful apprentice certification outcomes.
This is an onsite position at 2611 Regent Blvd. Suite 400, Irving, TX 75063. ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Functions:- Deliver standardized craft training programs and facilitate hands-on skill assessments to ensure competency development
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of trainee attendance, performance evaluations, skill assessments, and testing outcomes
- Organize, maintain, and secure all training equipment, tools, and instructional materials; conduct inventory checks before and after each training session
- Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and professional guidance to apprentices throughout the duration of their training
- Participate in training retrospective and continuous improvement meetings with the apprenticeship program team
- Maintain student discipline through effective classroom management
- Collaborate with the apprenticeship program team and committee members to evaluate Related Technical Instruction (RTI) and recommend enhancements to curriculum content and delivery methods
- Leverage existing training materials and adapt content to align with company standards, operational practices, and industry requirements
- Integrate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company safety and management programs into curriculum design and instructional delivery
- Partner with the apprenticeship program team to develop and maintain consistent, structured training schedules
- Collaborate with volunteer instructors to standardize instructional delivery across classroom and workshop settings, and coordinate scheduling to ensure consistent coverage aligned with program needs
- Utilize NCCER curriculum, supplemental resources, their Learning Platform and their Performance Evaluation Dashboard
- Other duties as assigned
QualificationsEducation and Work Experience Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent with five years' experience relevant to the position, or Associates or Bachelor's degree with three years of experience
- Four years of construction experience in wind, solar, or energy storage
- Experience supporting apprenticeship programs, mentoring, or delivering vocational instruction preferred
- Experience leading both hands-on field instruction and classroom-based learning
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- NCCER Instructor Certification required (or obtained within 30 days of hire date)
- Experience with apprenticeship programs and RTI delivery preferred
- NCCCO Rigger and Signal Person Certificate preferred
- OSHA 510, OSHA-500 & OSHA-501 preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:- Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company's Zero Injury principles
- Functional computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Type and write reports with accuracy and appropriate grammar
- Excellent organizational skills and able to multi-task
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from employees
- Demonstrated familiarity with quality standards and continuous improvement practices required; prior training or instructional experience preferred
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
- Ability to travel as required
- Must have a "safety first" attitude with an understanding of doing the job right the first time
