Full Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
e2Companies is seeking an Applications Engineer to serve as the technical consultant supporting our sales team in the field. In this role, you will conduct initial site visits with prospective customers, evaluate their power system requirements and facility conditions, and recommend which of our integrated hardware and software solutions best address each client's specific needs. You will develop high-level system configuration drafts, preliminary designs, and cost estimates that the sales team uses to build proposals and drive deals forward. This role carries no commission or sales accountability.

This position requires full-time, on-site employment at our Bonita Springs, Florida headquarters. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates willing to relocate to Southwest Florida.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive customer engagement from the sales team and conduct on-site assessments to evaluate facility conditions, power infrastructure, and application fit
  • Identify and recommend which e2Companies hardware and software components best address each customer's power reliability, resiliency, and efficiency requirements
  • Develop high-level system configuration drafts and preliminary designs to support proposal development
  • Prepare initial cost estimates to inform pricing and proposal submissions
  • Communicate solution recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical customer stakeholders during site visits and customer meetings
  • Support the sales team throughout the pre-award process as a technical resource; this role carries no commission or sales accountability
  • Document site findings, customer requirements, and configuration recommendations and hand off all materials to the project management team at contract award
  • Collaborate with the Senior Power Systems Engineer on configuration direction and technical questions as needed
  • Attend customer meetings, site visits, and industry events as needed
  • Ensure all recommendations align with applicable codes and standards including NEC, NFPA 70, IEEE 1547, and IEEE C37
  • Maintain accurate records of site visits and comply with all access, safety, and security requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (MUST-HAVE)
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in power systems, electrical infrastructure, utility operations, protection and control, or power systems testing and commissioning
  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage equipment, power conditioning, or grid integration in distributed energy systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medium-voltage distribution systems, protection schemes, and SCADA or control system integration
  • Foundational knowledge of battery energy storage systems and renewable integration into distributed generation environments
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and fault analysis capability
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Must comply with all site-specific safety, security, and training requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • This position requires full-time, on-site employment at our Bonita Springs, FL headquarters. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates willing to relocate to Southwest Florida.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE-TO-HAVE)
  • 3+ years of experience with distributed energy systems such as natural gas generation, BESS, HV power systems, or microgrids
  • Experience with CHP systems and utility-interactive renewable systems
  • Familiarity with UL 2200 generator listings and NFPA 110 emergency power systems
  • Experience in mission-critical environments such as data centers, healthcare, or industrial manufacturing
  • Understanding of energy markets, demand response, or utility programs
  • Experience with ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar power system modeling tools

WHO YOU ARE

  • You think in systems and find genuine satisfaction in diagnosing what others cannot
  • You take ownership from first site assessment through awarded contract design turn over to Power System Engineering
  • You can walk into a room of non-engineers and make complex power infrastructure feel navigable without losing technical precision
  • You hold yourself to a high standard on documentation, compliance, and safety because you understand what is at stake in mission-critical environments
  • You are energized by technical depth, not the spotlight, and you measure your impact by what gets built correctly

HERE'S WHAT YOU GET

  • PTO and paid sick time to support work-life balance
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage
  • Equity participation through the Employee Incentive Program
