Are you looking for a role where you will truly make a difference and contribute to a growing industry in Canada? ECO Canada is looking for a performance-driven individual to join the team immediately.

As a key member of the Applications Development team, the Applications Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining our web applications. While each member of ECO Canada has individual responsibilities, ECO takes a team-based approach. Everyone is encouraged to take ownership of their ideas and to see them through to completion, collaborating with key influencers as required.

This is a full-time, 1-year contract position.

Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain business applications and integrations.
• Develop and enhance applications using C#/.NET, SQL, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Next.js, and related technologies.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and other developers to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions.
• Develop and maintain APIs, web services, and third-party integrations.
• Work with SQL and relational databases, including queries, reports, stored procedures, and data updates.
• Use source control and development tools such as GitHub and/or Azure DevOps to manage code and support deployments.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation, and deployment activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, investigate existing code, and implement appropriate fixes.
• Work with Microsoft Dynamics 365/Dataverse and other business applications to support integrations and custom functionality.
• Participate in technical projects, system upgrades, migrations, and other Technology & Applications initiatives.

Qualifications
• Strong hands-on experience with C#/.NET and one or more technologies/languages such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, or other modern programming languages.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles, software design concepts, and application design concepts.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web development technologies.
• Working knowledge of APIs, web services, and third-party system integrations.
• Experience working with relational databases, preferably SQL Server.
• Basic understanding of APIs and web services.
• Familiarity with Git, GitHub and/or Azure DevOps, source control, and CI/CD concepts.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams
• Familiarity with WordPress and Next.js is an asset.
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 / Power Platform experience is an asset.
• FileMaker experience is an asset.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience, or equivalent demonstrated experience, with strong hands-on experience in C#/.NET and SQL.
• Proven experience designing and building both front-end and back-end application components.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.

This role is based at ECO Canada's Calgary head office (unless otherwise noted). Following a 3-month probation period, eligible employees may transition to a hybrid schedule with at least 3 days per week in the office.
