POSITION SUMMARY
The Applications Specialist IV serves as a technical lead and subject matter expert across a wide range of enterprise applications and database systems. This role is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing both vendor and custom applications, managing cloud and on-premise databases, and leading technical projects. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SQL, application lifecycle management, and cloud technologies, while also mentoring team members and collaborating across departments to drive innovation and operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Acts as a technical lead on major projects, including application upgrades, cloud migrations, and system integrations.
  • Supports and maintains a diverse suite of applications (vendor and custom) across multiple business units.
  • Serves as the primary escalation point for complex application and database issues.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders and external vendors to troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements, and ensure system reliability.
  • Manages and optimizes cloud and on-premise databases, including performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security.
  • Leads or participates in the migration and consolidation of databases to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure).
  • Supports mobile application deployments to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
  • Documents and maintains system diagrams, data flow maps, and support procedures.
  • Automates and improves manual processes through scripting and tool development.
  • Participates in project management activities, including planning, implementation, and reporting.
  • Provides mentorship to junior team members and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with internal policies and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Performs production support tasks and follows change control processes for code and system migrations.


EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • 8-15 years of experience in application support, development, or database administration.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python), and data analysis.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure) and cloud database management.
  • Familiarity with mobile app deployment processes and application lifecycle management.
  • Ability to create and interpret technical documentation, including data flow diagrams and design specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with data lake and dashboard implementation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.


EDUCATION
Associate's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience, required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Minimal or occasional travel for meetings, projects, or training as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to operate a keyboard and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively.
