Full Job Description
We are hiring for an Applications Engineer for our Santa Clara, CA location. The Application Engineer supports the development, execution, and debug of bench and automated test solutions for advanced semiconductor devices. This role applies industry-standard ATE methodologies and works closely with experienced engineers, test operations, and customers to support device qualification and production readiness. The position offers hands-on technical responsibility with increasing scope over time, exposure to real customer programs, and the opportunity to build depth in semiconductor test through structured projects, collaboration, and on-the-job learning. Engineers in this role contribute directly to customer success while strengthening core technical and problem-solving capabilities. Note: Relocation assistance is not provided for this role; candidates should be able to commute to the work location. What You'll Do • Support silicon debug, failure analysis activities, correlation testing, and data analysis to help identify and resolve test or device issues • Contribute to the delivery of accurate, high-quality test results and reports to customers to support device qualification and manufacturing readiness • Collaborate with Test Floor operations, engineering, management, and sales teams to develop test plans, execute programs, and address technical or schedule issues • Take ownership of assigned tasks and projects, working independently on defined scope while leveraging guidance and peer review as needed • Manage multiple workstreams under established timelines, identifying risks and escalating issues early to support mitigation planning • Maintain clear, organized, and well-documented technical communication with internal stakeholders and customers, including test documentation and status updates Eligibility and Work Authorization Requirements • The company does not sponsor employment-based work visas for this position. • This position works with companies that deal with defense-related activities and is subject to ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations). All considered applicants must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR: • U.S. Citizen • U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. "Green Card Holder") • Political Asylee or Refugee Qualifications What You'll Bring Education and Experience • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience • 3+ years of semiconductor device testing experience Technical Knowledge and Skills • Working knowledge of semiconductor device testing concepts and test methodologies • Exposure to digital, mixed-signal, or analog device testing and semiconductor test flows • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with interest in troubleshooting, debug, and root-cause analysis • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven technical environment • Willingness to learn new tools, processes, and systems and incorporate feedback to improve performance • Experience using laboratory and test instruments such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and microscopes • Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and customers • Strong organizational, time-management, and basic data analysis skills (Word, spreadsheets, reporting tools) • Collaborative mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to support team and business needs Preferred (Not Required) • Experience through internships, co-ops, academic projects, or professional roles in semiconductor test, manufacturing, or lab environments • Exposure to project coordination, scheduling, or tracking tools (e.g., Smartsheet or similar) • Experience in quality, inspection, or manufacturing test settings We encourage you to apply even if your experience is not a 100% match with the position. Physical Requirements • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time. • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours). • Ability to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead • Ability to communicate clearly and understandably ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting. • Ability to handle small and fragile devices with tweezers and /or fingers. • Require close distance visual acuity with or without correction (Glasses, Contacts, etc.) • Must be willing and able to wear PPE such as hard-hat, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, laboratory coat and/or any other devices or equipment that is required. • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota. • Ability to move equipment or items up to 50 lbs.
