Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY- The Application Engineer - Field Sales assists sales representatives and customers by providing technical support to help Vertiv thermal management products and services. This role serves as a conduit between the field and the other applicable internal departments such as offering management, engineering, and order management. This support includes providing technical information on company products and the application of these products, assistance with custom product features and pricing, and ancillary product selection and pricing. Additional activities include participation or presenting in customer visits, leading customer witness test events in lab environments, giving internal presentations or training to Vertiv colleagues on thermal products, and assisting in the product development process.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Provides applications sales support.
- Applies Quote Configurator tool to provide comprehensive quote support.
- Performs equipment performance runs on Vertiv thermal management equipment and customizes program for ETO options.
- Assists in developing clear, concise, and technically sound tailored solutions for customer review and acceptance based on customer requirements and/or Request for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring proper scope and required technical specifications are met.
- Assists in the review of custom equipment orders and provides technical instruction throughout the order workflow.
- Executes technical sales operations tasks such as change order and engineer to order (ETO) processing.
- Presenting to customers or Vertiv colleagues on technical topics.
- Providing product application training to the Vertiv sales organization in local offices or at the Vertiv Academy.
- Work with product offering to make re-occurring ETO become standard product offering.
- Participate in new product development projects.
- Plan and support customer witness testing.
- Become subject matter expert on multiple thermal products and internal processes.
- Trains new application engineers on internal application engineering processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS- 2-4 years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial systems engineering preferred (or equivalent of education and experience).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Proficient and fluent in English including technical terminology.
- Understanding commercial infrastructure design objectives, performance factors, and physical requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Commercial or relevant industry experience preferred.
- Experience in HVAC industry and/or working in computer datacenters preferred.
- Experience with technical scope review and formal proposal development preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and one-line diagrams preferred.
- Presentation and public speaking experience preferred.
