Full Job Description
With the intention of further expanding our presence throughout North America, we are recruiting for an Application Chemist based out of our office, located in Ronkonkoma, NY. We are seeking a highly motivated Application Chemist to join our team and serve as a technical expert, bridging laboratory science and customer-facing responsibilities. The Application Chemist will be responsible for a variety of related functions including, but not limited to, analyzing customer samples, writing sample analysis reports, product demonstrations for prospective customers and assist in the training of customers, Elementar staff, and distributors. In addition, the Application chemist will assist with overflow technical support for both Service staff and customers.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Measuring and conducting sample analysis to support Sales team with prospective customers
  • Collaborate with Sales team to plan and conduct product demonstrations for customers which includes a comprehensive overview of the equipment features and functionality and showcasing how the equipment can be applied to the customer's specific samples
  • Provide application support to customers pre- and post-sale, including troubleshooting, method adaptation and in-person small group user training
  • Assist with technical support of customers and Service staff
  • Creating and executing application & technical trainings via webinars for customers, Elementar staff, and distributors
  • Preparing technical documentation (i.e. sample preparation, test reports, user guides, application notes) to provide customers and Service team for instrumentation needs
  • Drive continuous improvement of applications based on feedback and innovation
  • Travel, as required, to provide application support to customers and company personnel, ensure timely submission of all necessary reports and other required paperwork
  • Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, ensuring accuracy and repeatability of results
  • Order and stock reagents, gases and spare parts to facilitate smooth laboratory operations
  • Follow all safety, environmental and regulatory procedures; participate in development of SOPs and safety best practices
  • Collaborating closely with Application Specialists in Germany
  • Additional periodic travel to the manufacturing facilities in Manchester, UK and Langenselbold, Germany for intensive training and certification program


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a similar scientific field is required, graduate degrees preferred
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation, preferably with Elemental Analyzers
  • Has a customer-focused mindset; previous experience in a customer-facing role is a plus
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills; experience preparing technical documentation and presenting to diverse audiences
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and independently solving technical problems in a lab setting
  • Willingness to learn, with enthusiasm for solving complex problems
  • Flexible, adaptable and comfortable shifting priorities
  • Curious and improvement-oriented, always seeking better ways of working
  • Travel approximately 15% with valid driver's license and passport; onboarding training required in Germany
  • Experienced working with a CRM system, preferably SAP, and the MS Office Applications
  • Ability to lift to 20 lbs.
