What You Will Do:As an Appian Solution Architect at Guidehouse, you will play a pivotal role in leading digital transformation initiatives for enterprise clients
You will leverage your deep expertise in the Appian platform to architect scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that address complex business challenges
You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver impactful business outcomes, ensuring best practices are followed throughout the software development lifecycle.
In this role, you will:
- Lead end-to-end design and implementation of Appian-based business process automation solutions, including requirements gathering, architecture planning, and hands-on development across Appian Cloud and on-premises environments
- Translate business needs into actionable Appian solutions, integrating with third-party systems (e.g., REST/SOAP APIs, RPA, cloud services like AWS/Azure) and ensuring compliance with security, scalability, and performance standards
- Serve as a technical expert and trusted advisor, guiding project teams and clients through platform decisions, solution design, and implementation strategies
- Develop and present solution architectures, technical roadmaps, and migration plans to business and technical leadership, articulating value and risk mitigation strategies
- Mentor developers and junior architects, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing across the organization
- Stay current with Appian product updates, emerging technologies, and industry trends to proactively recommend enhancements, new accelerators, and innovative approaches to clients
- Drive Agile delivery practices, participate in sprint planning, and oversee successful deployments and post-launch support to ensure customer satisfaction and solution sustainability
- Contribute to the development of reusable frameworks, accelerators, and best practices documentation for the Appian practice
- Support business development activities by identifying new opportunities, participating in proposal creation, and presenting solutions to prospective clients
What You Will Need:- US Citizenship or eligibility for federal security clearance (as required by contract)
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline or equivalent experience
- A MINIMUM of EIGHT (8) years of professional experience in IT consulting, digital transformation, or enterprise software delivery.
- A MINIMUM of FIVE (5) years of hands-on experience architecting and developing solutions in Appian, including advanced proficiency with Appian SAIL, Process Modeler, Rules, and integration with REST/SOAP, web services, and cloud platforms, etc
- Current Appian Lead Developer or Solution Architect certifications, with a demonstrated history of ongoing learning and certification in related technologies (e.g., Appian Level 2/3, AWS, Azure, RPA tools)
- Expert-level understanding of Appian best practices, solution scalability, performance tuning, and cloud security principles
- Experience leading Agile teams and managing full solution delivery lifecycle, including CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices
What Would Be Nice To Have:- An active Federal or DoD security clearance
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated leadership in client delivery, technical mentoring, and driving platform adoption and innovation in large organizations
- Experience in project management within technology or consulting, especially in agile development environments
- Ability to identify and document business process requirements, develop process flow analyses, perform data modeling, and contribute to functional design and project planning
- Hands-on experience with Java development and Maven build tools
- At least 2 years of recent experience working on software development projects for the federal government, including Federal Acquisition Management
- Familiarity with industry-standard platforms and programming languages, such as Appian BPM, IBM WebSphere, Mule, LAMP/JBOSS, HADOOP, Java, and Microsoft/.Net
- Background in Enterprise Application Integration (SOA, ESB) and n-tier client-server architectures
- A proactive approach to exploring and adopting new features on the Appian platform
