Appellate Attorney (Counsel or Senior Counsel) - California Offices

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Appellate Attorney with 10-15 years of experience in one of our California offices, including Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles - Century City and Los Angeles - Downtown.

Our Appellate attorneys are a key asset at every stage of litigation, providing strategic insights during both pre-trial and trial proceedings. Our team draws upon experience with appellate-issue preservation to add value for our clients well before a judgment is handed down. Our Appellate attorneys also collaborate with Seyfarth's top-notch litigators to create the most favorable trial record in anticipation of an appeal, consult on and draft jury instructions and verdict forms, answer procedural questions, file interlocutory appeals, and handle complex briefings throughout the trial. Seyfarth's Appellate attorneys have the unique combination of analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills to deliver winning briefs and compelling oral arguments.

The Day-To-Day

As an Appellate Attorney in the Labor & Employment Department, you'll have the opportunity to work on interesting, challenging, and groundbreaking cases in collaboration with senior attorneys.

You Have

  • At least 10 to 15 years of significant litigation experience.
  • Very strong interest and ability in research, analysis and brief writing; the ability to handle complex and detail-oriented work on a sustained basis is key.
  • Significant prior experience in the appellate process, briefing appeals and conducting oral arguments in the state and federal appeals court is a requirement.
  • Intellectual curiosity, a willingness to think outside the box, and a knack for finding practical solutions to complex problems.
  • Excellent academic credentials, analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication skills required. Clerkship experience a plus, but not necessary.
  • Must be licensed and admitted to practice in the State of California.

The salary range for this role is $255,000 to $340,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
