What You'll Be Doing

As an Analyst, Technology & Innovation Investment Banking, you will be a professional responsible for assisting the team in executing all facets of Investment Banking's mandates with a focus on assisting in the preparation of in-depth financial models of acquisitions and recapitalizations. You will make decisions on moderately complex issues that contribute to department planning, contributing to quantitative and qualitative analysis and industry research. You will work with limited guidance to determine approaches to work projects, proactively assessing clients' needs and identifying service improvement opportunities through client dealings and the analysis process.

The expected annualized base salary for this role is $105,000.

The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate's skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.

In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

How You'll Succeed
  • Research - conduct industry research and analysis to aid in the identification and/or analysis of investment banking business opportunities
  • Client Relationships - Play a key role in the preparation of materials used in client coverage efforts, and the execution of new and existing client mandates:
  • Relationship Building - Take advantage of in depth technical and industry knowledge, as well as the geopolitical environment to generate transaction ideas and opportunities that can be discussed with the relevant relationship manager and deal/coverage teams. You will support senior investment banking colleagues and company due diligence investigations.


Who You Are
  • You have attained an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or Economics. Completion of and/or an intention to complete a CA or CFA, is preferred. It would be greatly appreciated if all applicants could submit the most recent academic transcript as part of their application.
  • You have relevant industry experiencein one or more of Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Equity Research and Private Equity. Experience with meaningful financial modeling and analysis is a plus.
  • You're success oriented. Extremely dedicated and motivated individual with high career aspirations. Must be capable of assuming elevated levels of responsibility within brief time frames. Success for you is helping solve and execute the complicated financial and strategic needs of our clients.
  • You can demonstrate strong financial skills. Excellent analytical ability including demonstrated knowledge of valuation techniques and practices.
  • You are technically savvy. Strong quantitative technical skills as they relate to basic computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Working knowledge of software, AI, technology services, hardware, quantum computing, and other technology sectors would be an asset.
  • You're collaborative and a professional. Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills to develop, manage and use relationships with clients, and internal and/or external business partners. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills sufficient to supply detailed explanation and interpretation of factual and conceptual information and ideas related to complicated technical and conceptual issues. Unquestioned professionalism, ethics and reputation and established ability to exercise strong independent judgment when making business choices and/or representing CIBC Capital Markets.
