As an Analyst, Real Estate in the Corporate Banking team, you will support the execution of financing mandates that have major strategic impacts for Desjardins Capital Markets. You will support portfolio managers and business development initiatives in connection with strategic lending for clients in the North American Real Estate sector. Your responsibilities include assisting in transaction execution, portfolio management, financial modelling, credit/ESG analysis, legal documentation, and sector specific research supporting real estate financing activities for a client base composed of public and private corporations, real estate owners and operators, REITs, and institutional investors. This role requires strong analytical capabilities and a broad interest in real estate. You will also help develop recommendations for highly complex files requiring a deep understanding of capital markets. You will interact with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders across different areas of expertise. This position requires a high degree of attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while delivering comprehensive analyses in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. More specifically, you will be required to:
- Conduct annual reviews, develop and review financial models, assist in the preparation of term sheets and client presentations, perform commercial real estate market and sector research, and support the portfolio management team in underwriting, portfolio monitoring, transaction execution, and client relationship management activities
- Review and monitor the financial performance, credit quality, and risk profile of existing borrowers across a range of lending products, including revolving credit facilities, term loans, L/C facilities, derivative lines, and other financial products
- Interact with internal business partners (e.g., Investment Banking, Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, IRS/FX, and other Capital Markets groups, Risk Management) and external stakeholders (e.g., legal counsel, clients)
- Provide ad hoc reports for management
- Perform other related duties as required

What you bring to the table
- Bachelor's degree in finance, corporate finance or another related field
- A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in corporate and/or commercial banking, including coverage of real estate sector financing
- Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
- Professional designations such as CFA, CPA or CAIA
- Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Solid understanding of loan structuring and financial modelling
- Strong interest and natural curiosity in real estate
