What you will be doing:

As an Analyst/Programmer 4 with DOT&PF at Anchorage International Airport (ANC), you will serve as the senior systems administrator supporting ANC-IT. Your responsibilities will encompass assisting with or directly managing the support of all airport business application servers and program applications. Key duties include:
  • Application programming and infrastructure support for network application system security.
  • Disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Collaborating on inter-sectional projects with ANC-IT staff.
  • Designing, configuring, and maintaining servers across the multi-sited airport network.
  • Leading the team for ANC's Active Directory, CITRIX, VMWare, and Virtual Servers procedures and implementation.
  • Providing basic server support for Microsoft SQL servers.
  • Managing various projects within the IT department.

In this role, you will work both independently and within a team environment, often acting as a team lead. Additionally, you will mentor fellow ANC-IT staff as needed or as requested by the IT Manager.

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the core competencies of:

  • Technical Documentation: Knowledge of procedures for developing technical and operational support documentation.
  • Infrastructure Design: Knowledge of the architecture and typology of software, hardware, and networks, including LANS, WANS, and telecommunications systems, their components and associated protocols and standards, and how they operate and integrate with one another and with associated controlling software.
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to
    accomplish work.
  • Change Management: Knowledge of change management principles, strategies, and
    techniques required for effectively planning, implementing, and evaluating change in the
    organization.
  • Creativity and Innovation: Develops new insights into situations; questions conventional
    approaches; encourages new ideas and innovations; designs and implements new or

Special Note:
The following are required for this position:
  • Valid driver`s license.
  • An Airport Security Badge with background check IAW Transportation Security Administration 49 CFR 1542 is required. Background check will also require access to Customs Border Protection area IAW CFR1542.209 and SE 152-04-08G as well as access to sensitive data with access to the Criminal Information Justice System 19 CFR 122.181.188.

Minimum Qualifications
Four years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of this experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.

Substitution:

A bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS) or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for one year of the required experience. An associate's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience.

Special Note:

An applicant who is considered under the Substitution above qualifies to apply for this job class IF the applicable coursework is completed within three (3) months of hire. Under this option, an applicant may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of completion will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.

Individual positions at each level in this class series may require expertise in a particular area of programming or analysis. Recruitment and selection will be on the basis of these requirements.
