This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Analyst Programmer 3: Senior Technical Engineer - Undergraduate Enrollment Systems & Integrations position for the Office of Enrollment Management at Oregon State University (OSU).

Join Oregon State University's Digital Engagement, Marketing, and Information Technology (DEM&IT) team as the senior technical engineer for undergraduate enrollment systems. This role owns complex Slate architecture, integrations, custom applications, and data flows that support students from recruitment and application through admission and onboarding.

Working across Enrollment Management and university technology partners, you will turn complex business needs into secure, accessible, reliable systems. The position offers substantial technical autonomy, opportunities to mentor colleagues, and direct contributions to student access, enrollment growth, and more effective university operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide senior technical ownership of undergraduate Slate and related enrollment systems.
  • Design and develop complex applications, APIs, integrations, and data flows, including Banner-connected processes.
  • Analyze cross-unit enrollment workflows and anticipate downstream system and operational impacts.
  • Lead resolution of complex production issues and provide advanced technical consultation.
  • Maintain architecture, integration, support, and continuity documentation and technical standards.
  • Provide technical lead work, mentoring, and code/design review without direct personnel supervision.
  • Maintain current technical expertise and support DEM&IT and Enrollment Management priorities.


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor's degree in computer science, or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.
  • Experience in systems analysis, application development, CRM administration, database-supported systems, integrations, or related programming support functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal oversight and lead complex cross-functional technical work from requirements analysis and solution design through implementation and production support.
  • Experience translating complex business processes and technical requirements into secure, maintainable, sustainable system solutions.
  • Strong communication, writing, documentation, organizational, consultation, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and technical dependencies, monitor progress, and maintain accurate project, system, and operational information.
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedure, business rules, data relationships, and technical requirements and explain implications clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to identify architecture, integration, data, operational, and project risks and independently resolve, mitigate, or escalate them appropriately.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business information systems, management information systems, data systems, or a related area of study.
  • Three or more years of progressively responsible experience with Technolutions Slate CRM administration, configuration, reporting, systems development, or technical ownership.
  • Experience supporting undergraduate admissions, recruitment, onboarding, scholarship, CRM communications, application processing, or other high-volume enrollment operations.
  • Experience with SQL, XML, JavaScript, HTML, Groovy, Ruby on Rails, APIs/web services, data integrations, data mapping, or other technologies relevant to Slate and enrollment systems.
  • Experience designing, testing, implementing, or troubleshooting integrations between Slate and Ellucian Banner or other enterprise student information systems.
  • Experience applying higher education policies and business-process knowledge to technical solutions involving admissions, registrar, financial aid, scholarships, student data, FERPA, or academic procedures.
  • Experience serving as technical lead or technical owner for complex systems work, including solution architecture, workflow automation, integration design, code/design review, mentoring, or establishing technical standards.
  • Experience analyzing downstream impacts across interconnected systems, including data mappings, source formats, system-of-record dependencies, reporting, and operational workflows.
  • Experience working in a customer-service-oriented technology team supporting multiple business units and improving or automating complex operational processes.


Working Conditions/Schedule:
This new Analyst Programmer 3 position was approved through Strategic Resource Renewal project 2815 to provide senior technical leadership for undergraduate enrollment systems and integrations. The position will expand capacity for complex Slate development, systems architecture, data integrations, production support, and cross-functional enrollment projects while reducing operational risk and dependence on limited existing technical resources.

Positions in the class of ANALYST/PROGRAMMER are primarily responsible at varying levels for the analysis, design, modification, testing, installation and maintenance of application programs, integrated systems, or software solutions including databases to meet user and organizational information needs at the system-wide, campus-wide, or individual unit level.

Positions in this classification may reside in the central computing department or in individual administrative or academic departments or schools. Common working titles include Applications Programmer, Software Developer, Systems Analyst, Programmer Analyst, Database Analyst, Data Administrator, Data Analyst, etc.

Analyzes and develops systems and technology-based solutions to meet user needs including applications, databases, and related systems.

Competency Level 3: Requires more in-depth and comprehensive knowledge in their field(s). Works independently and may consistently resolve the most complex work assignments or problems. May use advanced communication and leadership skills to coordinate and plan projects. Distinguished from Level 2 by the broadest possible scope of work and impact of decisions.

Salary Range:

$86,244 - $136,800
