Health Systems and Strategic Partnerships team is a senior led group advising health systems, academic medical centers, and innovative healthcare companies on
M&A, joint ventures, carve outs, and growth capital raises. Recent engagements include a sell side process for a healthcare services company, a growth equity raise for a radiopharmaceutical platform company, and hospital acquisition and service line carve out work for an academic health system.
The team operates with a
highly collaborative and flat structure, allowing analysts to work directly with senior bankers, health system executives, and boards throughout the transaction process.
POSITION OVERVIEWZiegler is seeking a highly motivated
Investment Banking Analyst to join its
Health Systems and Strategic Partnerships Advisory team in New York.
Unlike larger investment banks where responsibilities are often highly segmented, analysts at Ziegler are
fully integrated into deal teams and play an active role across all phases of transaction execution and business development.
Analysts work directly with Managing Directors, Vice Presidents, and Associates and have the
unique opportunity to engage with health system executives, boards, investors, and strategic partners early in their careers. The role offers meaningful exposure to live transactions and provides strong mentorship and training within a collaborative team environment.
This position is ideal for candidates seeking
hands-on experience, significant responsibility, and direct client interaction within a leading healthcare-focused investment banking platform.
Candidates should be located in, or willing to relocate to, the New York area. Our team works across several Ziegler offices, so candidates should be comfortable collaborating with a distributed team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Analyst will play a central role in both transaction execution and business development efforts, including:
- Building detailed financial models and valuation analyses, including DCF, trading and transaction comparables, sum of the parts, and joint venture economics, to support live transactions and client engagements
- Preparing transaction materials including Confidential Information Memoranda (CIMs), management and investor presentations, board materials, and buyer and investor outreach materials
- Supporting all phases of M&A, joint venture, and capital raising transactions, including marketing, investor targeting, diligence coordination, and closing processes
- Managing and organizing virtual data rooms and diligence materials for active transactions
- Conducting industry research, market analysis, and strategic positioning work for health systems and healthcare companies, including service line, market share, and payer mix analysis
- Assisting with the preparation of client presentations and new business development materials
- Supporting outreach and market coverage efforts, including identifying and engaging prospective clients, buyers, investors, and strategic partners
- Maintaining the team's health system coverage database, pipeline tracking, and market intelligence
- Participating in client and board meetings, buyer calls, and investor discussions, gaining direct exposure to transaction processes and strategic decision-making
- Using AI and automation tools to accelerate research, analysis, and the production of client materials
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONSThe successful candidate possesses the following qualities:
- 0 to 2 years of experience in investment banking, healthcare consulting, or a related finance role, ideally with M&A or capital markets exposure; exceptional recent graduates will be considered
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, or another analytical discipline
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, including experience with transaction analysis
- Solid accounting knowledge and proficiency in three-statement financial analysis
- Genuine interest in health systems and healthcare delivery; coursework or experience in hospital finance or reimbursement is a plus
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with AI tools and data platforms such as Capital IQ, PitchBook, and Definitive Healthcare is a plus
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
