Full Job Description
Position Title: Analyst, Capital Investments

Department: Financial Planning & Analysis

Location: Store Support Centre

Reports to: Director, Finance - Stores & Capital Investments

The Analyst, Capital Investments has the unique opportunity to partner with leaders across the business and play an integral role in supporting disciplined capital allocation and company profitability. Reporting to the Director, Finance - Stores & Capital Investments, this role is responsible for evaluating proposed capital investments, supporting capital planning and forecasting activities, measuring investment performance, and handling day-to-day financial activities related to select Store Support Centre departments.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • Build effective partnerships with key internal stakeholders, i.e. executives and management across the organization
  • Support the annual capital planning, budgeting and regular forecasting processes
  • Evaluate proposed capital investments and assist in developing business cases, including reviewing financial assumptions, expected returns, risks and alignment with business priorities
  • Prepare financial analysis and supporting materials to support capital investment reviews and approval requests
  • Measure and analyze the performance of completed investments, including post-investment review of financial and operational outcomes where appropriate
  • Develop and evolve reporting, KPIs and metrics to track capital portfolio performance and business results
  • Assist in month-end FP&A activities and coordinate with the Accounting team to ensure completeness and timely close of financial records
  • Preparation and analysis of department operating expense budgets and regular forecasts
  • Prepare detailed commentary to explain the financial results and assist the various lines of business in developing action plans as required
  • Development and improvement of new processes and models to support management reporting requirements; maintain a continuous improvement mindset
  • Partner with key stakeholders cross-functionally, to solve problems, ensure successful financial performance, challenge the status quo
  • Ad hoc reporting, analysis and projects, as required


The ideal candidate:
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or 3-5 years equivalent experience; ideal candidate will also possess an Accounting designation (CPA) or be working towards it
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with the ability to assess investment proposals and translate complex information into useful business insights
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; exposure to SAP, IBM Cognos and Microsoft Fabric is an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years of financial planning and analysis, investment analysis, capital planning or related finance experience preferred

Hiring Range / Échelle salariale à l'embauche :

Final compensation for this position will be determined based on the candidate's unique skills, expertise, individual qualifications, and assessed contributions to the role following the completion of the interview process.
