About the Job

Why This Role Exists:

Melissa is building a more deliberate program for how the company is represented across AI-generated answers, technical search and discovery, and the broader information surfaces that influence buying decisions. We are looking for a technically fluent, externally credible program owner who can connect AI visibility, technical content, authority signals, and cross-functional execution.

This is not an AI model-engineering role and it is not traditional SEO with a new label. The job is to make Melissa easier for AI answer engines and technical evaluators to resolve, understand, trust, and recommend by improving technical evidence, third-party authority, machine-readable content, and the accuracy of the public narrative.

What You'll Own:

  • Own Melissa's AI visibility / GEO / AEO program: benchmark priority buyer and technical prompts, track how Melissa and competitors appear, identify citation and narrative gaps, and turn findings into a measurable roadmap.
  • Modernize the technical story: help create clearer documentation, tutorials, comparisons, code samples, SDK/package-manager guidance, and answer-first content that reduces friction for technical evaluators and implementers.
  • Partner with Data, Product, and Programming groups to modernize technical documentation, tutorials, comparisons, code samples, SDK/package guidance, and answer-first content that reduces friction for technical evaluators and implementers.
  • Build third-party authority: identify credible directories, review platforms, technical publications, roundups, case studies, benchmarks, and other surfaces where Melissa should be accurately represented.
  • Monitor competitive and reputation issues: spot misleading or outdated technical narratives, coordinate fast factual responses, and help design transparent, reproducible comparisons or benchmarks.
  • Measure the program: maintain a dashboard and prioritized backlog covering AI answer inclusion, source/citation patterns, competitive share of voice, documentation improvements, and shipped technical fixes.

Who We're Looking For:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience across technical content or documentation, technical product marketing, SEO/AEO/GEO, developer advocacy/marketing, or a closely related function. A blended background is welcome.
  • Technical fluency with API-based products and technical workflows-comfortable with GitHub, REST APIs, SDKs, package managers, JSON, Markdown, code samples, and web documentation.
  • Excellent technical writing and editing skills, with the ability to turn complex capabilities into precise, plain-English explanations, tutorials, comparisons, and evidence-backed claims.
  • Strong analytical instincts and curiosity: able to design repeatable tests, interpret noisy AI/search results, identify patterns, prioritize interventions, and measure whether changes are working.
  • Credibility and judgment in public technical and professional communities. You know the difference between useful participation and promotional posting, and you are comfortable representing a company transparently.
  • Strong cross-functional program management skills. You can move work forward across Marketing, Product, Engineering, Web, IT, Sales, Support, and leadership.

Especially Helpful:

  • Experience with data quality, address verification, geocoding, identity/contact data, data integration, SaaS APIs, or adjacent technical infrastructure products.
  • Hands-on familiarity with structured data, schema.org / JSON-LD, knowledge graphs, Wikidata, web analytics/log analysis, review platforms, or AI-answer monitoring tools.
  • Experience creating technical benchmarks, head-to-head product comparisons, reference implementations, or technical education content.

What Success Looks Like:

  • First 30 days: Baseline AI visibility, competitor narratives, technical touchpoints, documentation, entity consistency, and third-party footprint.
  • Days 31 - 60: Prioritize the highest-impact gaps and launch quick wins in content, documentation, machine-readable signals, and authority surfaces.
  • Days 61 - 90: Deliver the first cross-functional roadmap and dashboard, ship initial technical assets, and establish recurring monitoring and reporting.

The Kind of Person Who Will Thrive Here:

You are a self-directed senior operator who likes ambiguous, cross-functional problems. You do not need a team to invent the work for you: you investigate, form a point of view, bring specific questions to subject-matter experts, and translate what you learn into shipped improvements. You are equally comfortable reviewing technical content, presenting findings to executives, engaging thoughtfully in professional communities when useful, and turning a new or evolving discipline into a practical operating program.

Perks:

  • Office lunch on select weekdays.
  • Haircuts and manicures.
  • Workout and yoga class with personal trainer.
  • Onsite EV charging.

Benefits:

  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Flexible Spending Account.
  • Life insurance, including company-provided coverage.
  • Paid holidays and personal time off.
  • Educational assistance after one year of employment.

  • Include LinkedIn profile if available.
  • NO RECRUITERS OR PHONE CALLS.
