Description

Scope AR Technologies, a Flatirons Solutions subsidiary, is hiring an AI Software Developer. Scope AR creates augmented reality and content lifecycle management software that helps organizations transform complex technical information into clearer, more efficient work experiences. In this role, you will develop, maintain, and deliver software products for customers in the aviation and aerospace industries-and help shape how AI is used to build smarter, more capable solutions. We're looking for a collaborative, analytical software engineer who is excited to experiment with emerging AI tools and capabilities, turn user needs into thoughtful technical designs, solve meaningful problems, and deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Our home office is located in Edmonton, but can be fully remote for this role. Must be a permanent resident or Canadian citizen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be part of a team of 2-5 engineers working to build, maintain, and integrate our AR (Augmented Reality) and CLM (Content Life Management) solutions for customers across the aviation and aerospace manufacturing industries
  • Research and experiment with the latest techniques and practices in using AI to build software
  • Pilot AI usage and best practices across the organization
  • Integrate AI features and capabilities into software products
  • Consult with team members and customers to ensure project success, including:
    • Understanding requirements
    • Estimating your work timeline to manage your deliverables
  • Employ Agile/Test Driven Development (TDD) best practices
  • Write code to implement requirements in a TDD process
  • Refactor code to improve quality
  • Follow coding standards and technology best practices
  • Track your work in JIRA or other task management software
  • Understand and adhere to all requirements of the Quality Management System, the Information Security Management System, and the Privacy Information Management System.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in developing software applications
  • Extensive experience using AI and its strengths and weaknesses
  • Knowledge of requirements gathering methods and tools
  • Programming experience: Java and JavaScript
  • Good conceptual understanding of Web Application Development Technologies
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Experience in a variety of languages
  • Strong written and verbal communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of airline publishing specifications: S1000D and ATA iSpec2200 a plus.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools & continuous integration
  • Good understanding of Agile process
