Job Description:The Canada IT - Platforms and Engineering Domain is looking for an AI Engineer with 3+ years of development experience. You will drive GenAI innovation, implement cutting-edge cloud capabilities, and build scalable solutions that transform how we work. The ideal candidate has a passion for cutting-edge technologies and a proven track record of building large-scale, complex software systems.What you will do: - Work closely with the Enterprise Architect to design and implement solutions that align with the platform capabilities roadmap
- Research and pilot the latest GenAI technologies and practices
- Develop and deploy scalable AI solutions and automation workflows targeting high-impact, validated business use cases.
- Create and maintain technical design artifacts that describe application functionality, solution designs, data models, interfaces, and integrations
- Use and enhance our DevOps practices and tools to enforce software guardrails, increase automation, and help engineers build code faster, at a lower cost, and lower risk
- Stay current with industry advancements in cloud technologies, AWS services, and AI/ML
- Provide post-production support for deployed applications, including troubleshooting, performance optimization, and continuous improvement
What you need to succeed: - Bachelor's degree in computer science or a relevant field
- Good communication and presentation skills, with experience explaining technical approaches and decisions to varied stakeholder groups
- Practical experience developing solutions using technologies such as Python, AWS Lambda, Java, and APIs
- Experience with developing AI bots/agents
- Familiarity with chatbot development concepts, RAG techniques and vector databases
- Experience with DevOps culture, tools, and best practices
- Strong collaborator who contributes effectively in an agile team environment
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail and ability to evaluate trade-offs
- Commitment to collaborative and transparent teamwork within an Agile environment
- Willingness to support and mentor junior team members while developing your own technical expertise

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
