POSITION SUMMARY:

The AI Engineer III serves as a senior technical expert responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions across the Environmental Solutions Group technology ecosystem. This role requires deep proficiency in software engineering, data science, machine learning, and embedded AI deployment. The AI Engineer III leads complex model-development initiatives, architects scalable AI systems, and ensures seamless integration of AI capabilities into edge devices and enterprise platforms. This position plays a key role in advancing ESG's Connected Collections® strategy by delivering high-impact AI solutions that enhance safety, operational efficiency, and real-time intelligence for customers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
  • Architect, build, and optimize large-scale AI systems, including advanced computer vision, deep learning, and real-time inference models.
  • Lead development and deployment of AI models on embedded and edge devices, ensuring performance, reliability, and low-latency operation.
  • Design and maintain scalable data pipelines, training workflows, and automated model-evaluation processes.
  • Conduct advanced statistical analysis, algorithm benchmarking, and model validation to ensure accuracy and robustness.
  • Develop high-performance AI applications using Python, C++, JavaScript, and embedded programming languages.
  • Integrate AI systems with firmware, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and tools to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure AI systems meet security, compliance, and ethical standards.
  • Document AI architectures, model performance, and deployment processes.
  • Present progress, risks, and results to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Minimal travel required

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python; strong experience with C++ and JavaScript.
  • Strong Linux proficiency and experience developing for embedded systems.
  • Deep understanding of relational databases (MySQL, SQL Server, Snowflake).
  • Strong experience with Agile development, CI/CD pipelines, and test-driven development (TDD).
  • Proficiency with ETL processes, data modeling, and large-scale data handling.
  • Advanced knowledge of Pandas, NumPy, and modern ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX).
  • Strong understanding of version control (Git) and build tools (Jenkins).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and drive development of new functionality.
