About the Department
Job Summary
Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care Inpatient Responsibilities
Perform infusion of stem cells.
Daily rounding.
Follow-up on all pertinent laboratory and imaging studies.
Maintain effective communication with subspecialists and inpatient team.
Provide ongoing education topatientandfamilyregardingtransplant, including dischargeteaching.
Communicate with outpatient team and primary care provider upon discharge.
Provide care as outlined in sections policy and procedures whilemaintainingappropriatedocumentationfor the National Marrow Donor Program and the Federation for Accreditationof Cellular Therapies (FACT).
Outpatient Responsibilities
Takehistories, perform physical examinations, formulate a differential diagnosis and plan forselected patients seen by the Stem Cell Transplant team.
Triage patient calls, formulate a plan of care and document in EPIC.
Responsible for writing single patient treatment plan, treatment consent and applyingBEACON plan.
Perform infusion of stem cells.
Maintain effective communication with subspecialists.
Provide care as outlined in sections policy and procedures whilemaintainingappropriatedocumentationfor the National Marrow Donor Program and the Federation for Accreditationof Cellular Therapies (FACT).
Coordinates pre, peri and post-transplant care for patients undergoing an autologous or allogeneic transplant.
Coordinates matched unrelated and cord blood searches through the National MarrowDonor program.
Education/Nursing care Standards/Staff Education
Complieswithstandards and regulations of licensure, regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Assumes responsibility formaintainingown competency and continuing education in area ofspecialization and in professional practice.
Attends relevant workshops, conferences, and seminars locally and nationally.
Assistsin evaluating the quality of patient care through application of the quality assuranceprocess
Research
Participates in independent and/or collaborative research projects in stem cell transplant.
Other Responsibilities
Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions needed to achieve the goalsand outcomes of the patients plan of care.
Designs patient education programs that include informationrequiredto make informedhealth care and treatment decisions.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree from an accredited school/college.

Preferred Competencies
Education:
Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
Experience:
Demonstrated clinical competency.
Knowledge of electronic medical records.
Background in research.
Research nurse experience or transplant coordinator experience.
Experience in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Stem cell transplant.
Critical care nursing experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
National certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), strongly preferred by date of hire.
BLS (Basic Life Support),is stronglypreferred by date of hire.
Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

Ability to handle and relate sensitive information and workindependently.
Abilityto troubleshoot problems on a regular basis.

Once licensed and as needed, apply for a mid-level practitioner-controlled substance license and DEAnumber.
