Full Job Description
Facial plastic surgery, ENT, otolaryngology, and pediatric and adult facial plastic surgery.

This position will work in the ENT clinic at Fontaine Research Park and ENT Charlottesville Pantops locations as part of a collaborative team with Dr. Park, Dr. Oyer, and Dr. Synder in the facial plastic and reconstructive surgery division. Advanced Practice Provider to work Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm (no call, no weekends) in an ambulatory clinic setting. Will support facial plastic patients within the Department of Otolaryngology with an interest in growing facial plastic surgery, especially cosmetic cases.

I. Clinical Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive outpatient evaluations for patients with aesthetic and reconstructive facial concerns, including detailed medical histories, facial examinations, medication reconciliation, and development of individualized treatment plans.
Evaluate and longitudinally manage patients with conditions including facial aging and aesthetic concerns, facial paralysis, brow and eyelid ptosis, nasal obstruction and nasal deformity, facial trauma, skin cancer defects, facial scars including hypertrophic scars and keloids, and other congenital or acquired facial deformities.
Conduct new patient consultations, routine follow-up visits, postoperative evaluations, and surveillance appointments while collaborating closely with three Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
Assist with perioperative management by performing preoperative assessments, surgical optimization, patient education, and managing postoperative recovery.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practice and shared decision-making in collaboration with patients, families, and collaborating physicians.
Prescribe medications, order and interpret laboratory studies, imaging, diagnostic testing, and treatment response.
Perform postoperative care including suture removal, wound care, intralesional injections, postoperative debridement, nasal packing removal, and other minor procedures as appropriate.
Coordinate multidisciplinary care with otolaryngology subspecialties, dermatology, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, speech-language pathology, audiology, and other specialists to optimize functional and aesthetic outcomes.
Educate patients and caregivers regarding surgical procedures, postoperative expectations, scar care, facial rehabilitation, medication management, and long-term treatment planning.
Serve as a consistent clinical resource for patients throughout the continuum of care

II. Administrative Responsibilities
Document all patient encounters accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with UVA Health documentation standards, billing requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Support outpatient clinic operations by facilitating patient flow, triaging referrals, and managing longitudinal care plans.
Assist with surgical coordination including surgical optimization, perioperative documentation, patient education, and communication with multidisciplinary teams.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on patient access, clinic efficiency, surgical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and care coordination.
Adhere to institutional policies regarding coding, billing, compliance, patient privacy, and quality metrics.

III. Professional Responsibilities
Maintain active Virginia licensure, national certification, and appropriate prescriptive authority as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
Maintain competency in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery through continuing medical education and professional development opportunities
Participate in UVA Health's Center for Advanced Practice, including APP orientation, mentorship, leadership development, and continuing professional education.
Participate in educational activities by precepting APP students, residents, fellows, and other learners within the Department of Otolaryngology.
Remain current with emerging evidence, clinical guidelines, innovative technologies, and best practices in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

IV. Leadership Responsibilities
Serve as a clinical leader within the Department of Otolaryngology by promoting compassionate, patient-centered, and evidence-based care.
Partner with faculty to develop and expand APP practice models that improve patient access, clinic efficiency, and continuity of care.
Contribute to the development and implementation of standardized clinical workflows, postoperative pathways, patient education materials, and quality improvement initiatives.
Participate in clinical research, academic projects, performance improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary program development that advance the mission of the Department of Otolaryngology.
Mentor APP colleagues and support onboarding, professional development, and knowledge sharing within the Department of Otolaryngology.
Represent the Department of Otolaryngology through institutional committees, educational programs, community outreach, and departmental initiatives as appropriate.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.

Experience: Department and unit specific.

Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $124,845.00 - $178,089.60 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
