Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
Location: Farmville, VA

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations for federal detainees.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians, focusing on acute, chronic, and preventive care needs.
• Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with Virginia state laws and facility protocols.
• Perform minor medical procedures as appropriate within the scope of practice.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including lab work and imaging studies.
• Provide patient education on health, wellness, and disease prevention, with cultural sensitivity.
• Work collaboratively with detention facility staff and federal authorities to maintain the highest standards of care.
• Accurately document patient care activities in electronic medical records (EMR), ensuring compliance with regulatory and facility standards.
• Participate in facility audits, quality improvement initiatives, and case reviews.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the unique medical and behavioral needs within a detention environment.

Qualifications
• Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted NP or PA license in the state of Virginia (required).
• Board certification in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or another relevant specialty.
• DEA registration and prescriptive authority in Virginia.
• No experience necessary, 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in correctional, detention, or underserved settings preferred.
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Strong clinical decision-making, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Dedication to providing culturally competent, patient-centered care in a secure environment.

Preferred Skills
• Bilingual in Spanish (strongly preferred).
• Familiarity with correctional or detention medical care protocols and standards.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
