Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Manufacturing Engineer specializing in laser processing technologies, including laser cutting and marking, to support high-volume manufacturing. This role is responsible for developing, industrializing, and optimizing laser-based processes to ensure precision, repeatability, throughput, and quality. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on expertise in laser-material interaction, process development, and equipment integration, along with a proven ability to scale processes from development through production. This position plays a critical role in new product introduction (NPI), process validation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and optimize laser cutting and marking processes across a range of materials
  • Define and refine laser process parameters (power, speed, frequency, focus, assist gases)
  • Lead equipment selection, specification, and commissioning including FAT/SAT
  • Integrate laser systems into automated manufacturing environments
  • Design and implement precision fixtures and tooling
  • Establish process documentation including work instructions and control plans
  • Define and implement inspection methods for laser features
  • Apply DOE, SPC, and Six Sigma tools to improve process capability
  • Support process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Lead projects from concept through production launch
  • Collaborate with R&D, Design Engineering, Quality, and Operations
  • Ensure compliance with laser safety standards and OSHA requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Evaluate emerging laser technologies

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in laser processing within manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of laser-material interactions
  • Experience with laser systems (fiber, CO2, UV preferred)
  • Proven ability to scale production processes
  • Experience with process optimization, troubleshooting, and defect analysis
  • Familiarity with automation systems, robotics, motion control, and vision systems
  • Experience designing tooling and fixtures using SolidWorks.
  • Strong analytical skills including DOE, SPC, and structured problem solving
  • Knowledge of quality systems and validation practices
  • Understanding of laser safety standards
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience in high-volume or high-precision manufacturing preferred
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification is a plus
