Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Advanced Lifing and Fracture Mechanics Engineer - Aerospace Propulsion to contribute to new product development and legacy designs through the development and application of lifing methodologies for conventional and additively manufactured components. The candidate will conduct fatigue and damage tolerance analyses alongside component designers, applying fracture mechanics and utilizing specialized tools such as, NASGRO, DARWIN and FRANC3D. Proficiency in data analysis, mechanical testing, and lifing methodologies is essential, as is the ability to complete analyses in accordance with internal, customer, and regulatory requirements. The engineer will also assist with technical input on material characterization test plans for metallic and non-metallic materials..
You will report directly to our Mechanical Design Engineering Manager in our Phoenix, AZ site on a hybrid work schedule. Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F.
Responsibilities- Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis: Experienced in fatigue and damage tolerance of components.
- Software Proficiency: Expertise in damage tolerance including probabilistic damage tolerance, fracture mechanics, and finite element tools such as NASGRO, DARWIN, ANSYS, and FRANC3D.
- Model Development and Validation: Support the development and validation of life prediction models for parts created through conventional and additive manufacturing.
- Data Analysis and Testing: Perform statistical analysis and plan mechanical testing to support lifing activities.
QualificationsMust Haves:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
• 3+ years of experience in component lifing, solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, damage tolerance analysis, or related fields, preferably working on aerospace engines or turbomachinery.
• Practical experience using Finite Element Analysis, ANSYS preferred.

• Experience with lifing models for additive manufactured parts.

• Work closely with component designers and engineering teams to communicate technical findings and support project outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex, nuanced results in a clear, concise manner that is easily understood by a wide audience
• Experience with FAA FAR 33.70 requirements on damage tolerance
