Job Details

The Clinical Pharmacist oversees the medication distribution system for their area of responsibility. In addition, the Clinical Pharmacist identifies, prevents, and resolves drug therapy problems by ensuring each medication is indicated, effective, safe, and convenient for the patient.

Job Duties

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.(Do not delete, move or over-write this statement)
  • Assures the appropriateness of drug therapy and compliance with hospital policies
  • Oversees the distribution of medications throughout TJUH
  • Supports implementation of processes to assure the quality of Pharmacy services
  • Trains pharmacy technicians, residents, students, interns and new pharmacists as assigned.
  • Precepts student pharmacists AND residents as assigned. See Preceptor Development & EvaluationProgram policy.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate of Pharmacy
  • 1 year Completion of PGY2 Pharmacy Specialty Residency; OR Completion of PGY1 Pharmacy Residency PLUS 2 years of relevant experience; OR Completion of no residency PLUS 5 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply pharmacokinetic principles for monitoring and dosingmedications
  • RP - Registered Pharmacist - State of Pennsylvania


Additional Qualifications

  • Microsoft Office, Epic


Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
