Full Job Description
General Medicine Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)

This position will be located at our North Campus, 5351 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63112. The facility is a 100-bed forensic inpatient state psychiatric hospital with 4 units (25 beds per unit). The average length of stay for our patients is between 6-9 months. We focus on competency restoration for patients who have been found incompetent to stand trial. These patients may have a major mental illness, a brain injury, an intellectual disability, or a medical illness that causes them to be unable to assist in the legal proceedings against them.

What you'll do:

Your responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:

u Perform admission H&P examinations as well as annual exams.

u Initiate screening and diagnostic procedures.

u Develop and implement medical treatment plans and monitor for effectiveness.

u Prescribe medications for medical illnesses.

u Work in an interdisciplinary team including psychiatric providers, social workers, psychologists, dieticians, pharmacists, and rehabilitation specialists.

u Refer to outside specialists at BJC, SLU, and St. Mary's Hospital as needed.

What you'll need for success:
Minimum qualifications: A Graduate degree (APRN, Physician Associate, DNP) in internal medicine or family practice. At least 2-years' experience.

Preferred skills: The ideal candidate will have experience providing medical care to a psychiatric population.

Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
