Job Description

The Administrative Manager oversees the administrative, operational and financial activities of a department or medical care unit, typically with oversight of 1-2 areas. Ensures the successful coordination and delivery of the day-to-day operations including staffing and administration of policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

1. Establishes major schedules, task assignments and allocation ofmanpower, space and equipment to ensure conformance with departmental goals andobjectives.

2. Administers departmental contracts and grants in accordance with MSMCpolicies and sponsors requirements regarding the maintenance of records,reports, controls and conditions governing expenditure of funds.

3. Recommends changes in operational policies and procedures to ensurecompliance with the organizations guidelines. Ensures activities are incompliance with federal, state and local regulations and/or guidelines.

4. Assists in the determination of fiscal requirements and preparebudgetary recommendations; monitors, verifies and reconciles expenditure ofbudgeted funds.

5. Ensures the adherence to budget parameters.

6. Maintains liaison with all levels of administration, faculty and/oroutside organizations to coordinate operational activities, to accomplish directivesand to facilitate the resolution of problems.

7. Prepares operational and financial reports and analyses. Setting forthprogress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

8. May serve as the departments liaison with administrative andprofessional staff regarding MSMC policies and procedures, personneladministration, grant administration and budgetary preparation and control.

9. Interprets and administers personnel policies such as hiring,performance appraisals, training, disciplining and salary recommendations.Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations regarding equalpay and equal employment.

10. Assists in the planning of short and long-range goals for thedepartment, unit or division. Prepares and evaluates proposals to implementnew programs and expand existing ones.

11. Assists in the implementation of quality assurance programs andmonitoring activities to meet standards and regulations of accrediting agenciessuch as JCAHO, CARF and New York State and City Department of Health.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in business related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and applicable work experience (some in a supervisory preferred).
  • 4+ years of related business experience with competency in applying general personnel practices, accounting and budgeting principles and coordination of one or more major administrative functions.

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,530.77 - $104,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
