Full Job Description
The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is seeking qualified construction management personnel with detailed and hands-on experience in managing and supervising large-scale capital construction projects. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing projects and site installations on City contracts, including the Borough-Based Jails (BBJ) project. In particular, the BBJ team is responsible for representing DOC's interests in the unprecedented design and construction of multiple borough-based jail facilities in New York City. This position will work directly with the BBJ transition planning team to achieve quality workmanship and timely completion of the project. The selected candidate's responsibilities include, but will not be limited to, the following: -Review architectural documents throughout all phases, from design concept to construction completion; -Ensure all aspects of architectural designs meet the Department's operational and programmatic needs; -Advise on architectural best practices and feasibility in corrections environments; -Supervise design process of new correctional facilities including detailed security drawings. -Identify problems with design quality or installations, preparing relevant reports/documentation, and seeking appropriate resolution; -Ensure the formulation and completion of project punch lists; -Develop expertise in jail operations and correctional best practices; -Perform special projects and related duties as assigned. MUST BE CURRENTLY SITTING IN THE TITLE OF ADMINISTRATIVE ARCHITECT ADMIN ARCHITECT (NON MGRL) M-1 - 1000A A valid New York State Registration as an Architect is required. In addition, candidates must have six ( 6 ) years of full-time paid experience in architectural work, at least two (2) years of which shall have been as an administrative architect.
