POSITION OVERVIEW:The Acute Care Clinical Manager will be responsible for leading the development of an integrated nursing team approach. They will work directly with the Director in the development of the nursing staff including education, departmental competencies, evaluation, performance correction, patient safety and customer service-related issues. The Clinical Manager will assist nursing and care staff in reaching their full potential at each stage of their professional development. The focus will be on developing and enhancing clinical knowledge, technical skills, clinical decision-making skills, professional performance standards and interpersonal skills that nursing and care staff use to provide quality services. The clinical supervisor will also support the nurses with assistance on the floor when patient care exceeds current staffing positions for all patients pediatric to geriatric medical and surgical and emergency department patients. Works cooperatively with: House Supervisor, patients, families, physicians and mid-level providers, intradisciplinary team, and other healthcare professionals. Ensures patient care, safety standards, and documentation is carried out according to standards and/or policies set forth. Under the direction and approval of the Director of Medical Surgical Unit and Emergency Department, organizes, plans and directs medical-surgical functions and activities including interviewing staff, maintaining Acute Care schedules, obtaining quality data, maintaining incident report logs, and preparing evaluations for Medical Surgical and Emergency Department staff. Give directions to charge nurses, RN, LPN, CNA, Ward Clerks. Receives direction from: Director of Medical Surgical Unit and Emergency Department, Physicians and Mid-level providers, Administrator and CNO.
EDUCATION:- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or equivalent
- Master's, preferred
EXPERIENCE:- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a Med/Surg area.
- 1 year of leadership experience, preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:- Current Montana State RN License is required
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:- Medial/Surgical nursing principles and procedures
- Basic office skills
- Basic computer skills
- IV skills
- Ability to operate manual and electronic medical equipment
- Coaching and counseling of subordinates, time management and delegation.
- Interviewing and strong human resources as well as exceptional communication skills required
- Needs to be highly skilled at interacting with people at all levels of the organization.
- Must possess exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, be customer service oriented and work as an integral part of the team.
- Requires flexibility, independent thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to initiate and develop special projects.
- Must be able to handle a busy workload.
