Overview

This is an office-based position.

Responsibilities

The Expert Actuarial Developer is responsible for leading the development and implementation of complex actuarial models and software solutions and simulations, offering support and guidance for customer problem solving, guiding customers through the dissection of intricate insurance requirements and regulations, and ensuring software solutions are accurate and reliable

  • Lead Development Projects: Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex actuarial models using regression analysis methods and software solutions.• Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as the primary technical contact for actuarial projects.• Data Management: Manage and analyze large datasets to support model development and financial projections.• Solution Architecture: Develop and implement actuarial solution architectures that are scalable, secure, and aligned with client needs.• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced developers. • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all actuarial models and software solutions meet the highest standards of accuracy and reliability. Develop strong test plans for all phases of product development.• All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Typically requires 6+ years of experience in actuarial development, modeling, or software development with a focus on complex modeling projects.

 

• Actuarial Expertise: Deep understanding of actuarial principles and advanced modeling techniques.

• Ability to develop and optimize complex algorithms and integrate multiple software tools and systems.

• Ability to translate actuarial requirements into technical solutions. 

• Proven track record of delivering high-quality actuarial solutions on time and within budget. • Extensive experience with actuarial software tools and platforms. Visual studio, JavaScript, html, xml a plus.• Understanding of changes in the insurance industry and regulation so as to advise clients on potential solutions.

• Familiarity with state insurance department regulations as well as NAIC Model Regulations• Experience, understanding of tax calculations per 7702 and 7702A tax code and policy value implications. Expert knowledge using first principles or commutation functions to perform actuarial calculations such as a Net Single Premium.• Expert Programming: Proven experience in .Net programming, bisection and root solve methods.• Project Leadership: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.• Customer-Facing Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.• Testing: Advanced expertise in designing and implementing comprehensive testing strategies for complex actuarial models. Demonstrates the ability to evaluate model assumptions, methodologies, and outcomes against business requirements and regulatory standard
