Responsibilities

  • Contribute to process improvements within the general ledger accounting team
  • Prepare and review materials for external auditors
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries and accounts payable transactions
  • Collaborate with Operations to streamline accounting processes
  • Partner with Internal Audit to maintain compliance and internal controls
  • Identify and implement process enhancements in financial closing procedures
  • Lead projects to integrate technology tools into accounting processes

Full Job Description
WHAT YOU'LL DO

As an Accounting Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting Viant's accounting operations and financial reporting processes within a fast-growing public technology company. Partnering closely with Accounting leadership, you will help drive an efficient and accurate monthly close process, strengthen internal controls, support audit and compliance initiatives, and identify opportunities to scale processes through automation and technology. This role offers the opportunity to lead projects, mentor team members, and contribute to the continued evolution of Viant's accounting organization.

THE DAY-TO-DAY
  • Coordinate and collaborate efficiently and effectively with the Accounting Managers to support team priorities and deliverables
  • Support the day to day operations of the general ledger accounting team, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded timely, accurately and in accordance with GAAP
  • Review select reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, ensuring that accounts are reconciled and any discrepancies are investigated and resolved in a timely manner
  • Support the general ledger accounting team by contributing to team goals and identifying opportunities for process improvements and projects
  • Prepare and review support provided to external auditors
  • Prepare journal entries for accounting matters requiring a supervisor-level skillset, and review journal entries and accounts payable transactions prepared by other team members
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams such as Operations to streamline accounting processes
  • Works closely with the Internal Audit team to develop and maintain appropriate internal controls over all aspects of accounting transaction processing and reporting
  • Ensure that US GAAP, SOX compliance and company specific policies and procedures are consistently followed
  • Recognize and execute process enhancements and efficiencies within the financial close process and across the team/department, aiming to establish and uphold best practices
  • Lead projects related to integration of technology tools, including ERP implementations, accounting software, Excel data tools, and AI tools
GREAT TO HAVE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 4+ years relevant accounting experience and experience working in a supervisory role
  • Big 4/regional firm audit/assurance experience and/or publicly-traded company work experience is a plus
  • Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail and high-level of accuracy
  • Strong oral/verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Able to handle extremely sensitive information requiring the utmost discretion and confidentiality
  • Excellent IT skills: experience with ERP systems/Accounting software and intermediate Excel skills required

$110,000 - $120,000 a year

In accordance with California law, the range provided is Viant's reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. Final title and compensation for the position will be based on several factors including work experience and education.
