About the Role:

The CBRE Accounting Senior Director - Investor Portfolio Management, is a critical, senior leadership role focused on management of accounting relationships and delivery on the contractual obligations of the client. This includes leading everyday accounting excellence across the portfolio, focusing on quality, efficiency, integration, and cost, with direct oversight of accounting staff and indirect oversight and influence over process enablers on the Account. This visible leader will effectively balance between achieving the strategy, developing talent, financial accountability, and operational efficiency of the accounting platform.

This senior leadership role will be client facing and coordinate significantly with operational decision makers within the office portfolio team and our executive team. They will lead the on-going accounting strategy, client relationships, transformation adoption for the office portfolio, and profitability growth on the Account. Talent excellence and performance are key features of this leadership role. The ability to strategically select, develop and retain a high performing team is a critical measure of success for this role.

The ideal candidate will possess deep real estate accounting expertise and operational experience, and success at leading large, geographically disperse and diverse teams. Experience with the deployment of transformational strategies, skilled in matrixed and cross team networking, and client experience expertise are priorities.
A highly strategic mindset with an ability to operationalize and translate strategy into actionable plans is a requirement of this role.

What You'll Do:

Account & Contract Management
  • Accountable for Property Management Accounting financial performance of the office portfolio on the Account.
  • Accountable for accounting service quality and compliance with Client and CBRE systems, process, and controls
  • Provide senior level leadership and oversight on the office portfolio to deliver against the contract, managing scope interpretation as required.
  • Engage CBRE leadership as needed to foster senior level partnership and leverages the broader CBRE service offering to introduce transformative ideas.
  • Provide leadership oversight of data program needed as a part of contractual service standards.
  • Possess solid understanding of contractual terms and implications.
  • Responsible for delivery of client compliance program and final sign off on audit deliverables
Strategic Planning
  • Act as an accounting expert in client's business and strategy, by pro-actively contributing to the improvement of the client's business.
  • Support growth of client's business through the development and execution of an Account Business Plan and Stakeholder Engagement Plan
  • Support the client's planning and budgeting process to enhance value and optimize performance.
  • Represent the client's best interests externally and internally to Property Management and CBRE.
  • Accommodate, plan, integrate portfolio contraction & expansion into accounting operating model.
People Leadership

  • Create and manage accounting resource plans in alignment with overall client's office portfolio disposition and acquisition strategies..

  • Conduct workshops and process improvement programs in a positive, engaging format. This will include both CBRE and client participation.
  • Develop and implement an active pipeline for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Act as an accounting subject matter expert in innovation initiatives across the Account
  • Implement Technology and Data transformation.
Governance
  • Support client service standard program including metrics-based client feedback programs.
  • Participate in monthly Office Operating Committee and Steering Committee (as requested)
  • Review of Management Fee calculations and coordinate questions from client on legal interpretation of MSA
  • Leading Accounting bi-monthly monthly Transformation and BAU meetings including both client and CBRE supporting functions

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university, MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of strategic leadership in a real estate accounting organization, leading large multi-function and multi-location teams.

Experience

  • Extensive experience managing accounting delivery and employee groups across North America.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills, and ability to ensure productive collaboration amongst regional teams and property management partners on account.
  • Proven leadership of compliance and data quality programs with experience working with outside audit firms
  • Monitor the fiscal impact of the account transformational plans which impact the margin profile of account or portfolio and overall client against the market.
  • Collaborating synergistically with leaders, ensure surveyed target plans are in place to drive measurable improvements, including consulting with Operational Excellence to drive margin achievement.
  • Actively build successful network relationships with key constituencies and stakeholders, ensuring visibility and extensive engagement.
  • Successful partnership with internal supporting functions in the pursuit of alignment and excellence.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Accounting Senior Director position is $200,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Accounting Senior Director position is $244,500 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
