Job Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager with a deep expertise in payroll operations to join our finance team. In this role, you will own the end-to-end payroll process for our 100-person team while managing core corporate accounting functions, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate bridges the gap between meticulous payroll compliance and traditional corporate accounting, ensuring our team is paid accurately while maintaining an accurate general ledger.

• The accounting manager is principally responsible for governing all elements of the payroll cycle including
• Establishing system controls for the payroll system and development of procedures to improve existing systems
• Developing, interpreting and refining company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures
• Oversight of timekeeping policies and procedures
• Payroll initiation, execution and reconciliation
• Payroll related chart of accounts maintenance across multiple integrated systems
• Payroll liability account reconciliation
• Municipal, state and federal tax compliance
• Fringe expense reconciliation
• Governance of employee reimbursement processes for travel and business expenses.
• Coordinating month end/quarter end and year end payroll activities

The position requires collaboration with human resources to seamlessly integrate payroll and employee data. Establishing and maintaining the integrity of employee payroll data is also critically important to this position and will require the execution of regular payroll audits to ensure compliance with laws, tax regulations and statutory requirements. This position has significant growth potential and is ideally suited for individual(s) desiring the opportunity to grow into a corporate controller role.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• 7+ years of experience in payroll management with 3+ years dedicated to advanced payroll management or accounting information systems configuration/maintenance
• Proficiency with Quickbooks or comparable small business accounting system
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Preparation of labor accruals and reconciling sub-ledger to the general ledger
• Proven track record operating in an integrated system of systems environment with disparate accounting, timekeeping and payroll processing systems
• Strong accounting information systems background and desire to act as the functional export for the company's payroll, timekeeping and expense processing systems
• Experience executing payroll functions in an organization with employees in 10 or more states
• Familiarity with multi-state tax law and statutory reporting compliance
• Experience Validating and reconciling automated payroll journal entries transmitted from/to payroll, timekeeping and accounting systems
• Experience executing accounting month, quarter and year-end close processes
• Proven ability to develop, implement and govern internal controls
• Strong Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
• Ability to provide necessary backup to Finance leadership in executive level meetings

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

• Master's degree in accounting, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential or professional certification in payroll management
• Familiarity with eFAACT time and attendance system configuration, maintenance and execution
• Familiarity with iSolved, GovConPay, payroll and Human Resource Information System (HRIS) configuration, maintenance and execution
• Familiarity with SAP Concur configuration, maintenance and execution
• Federal government contracting experience preferred and strongly suggested
  Experience maintaining a Chart of Accounts in conformance with United States Government Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)

Salary Range (DMV Market)

$110,000 to $150,000

Location-Based Compensation

Compensation is determined based on the employee's primary work location, applicable labor market, experience, education, certifications, security clearance, and other job-related factors. Candidates working outside the DMV may receive a different salary range consistent with local market conditions and applicable law.
