OverviewAmyx, Inc. is seeking an experienced
Accounting Managerto lead and manage core accounting operations across
Payroll,
Accounts Payable, and
Month-End Close. This role oversees the end0to0end administration of multi0state payroll, accounts payable processing, financial reporting support, and compliance activities. The Accounting Manager will serve as a subject matter expert in ADP Workforce Now, ADP SmartCompliance, and Deltek Costpoint, while providing leadership, process improvement, and operational continuity across the accounting function.This position requires strong technical expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage a small team while collaborating cross0functionally with Contracts, Project Management, and Finance.
Responsibilities
- Payroll Administration
- Manage and process bi0weekly multi0state payroll throughADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Process off0cycle payrolls, wage adjustments, and final pay in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain employer state withholding and unemployment tax accounts across 30+ states.
- Administer wage garnishments, including setup, maintenance, and compliance.
- Review weekly employee timesheets and ensure correct processing of new hire, termination, and LWOP adjustments.
- Process weekly PTO/leave accruals and timesheet corrections withinDeltek Costpoint.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries.
- Maintain expertise in multi0state payroll compliance and evolving payroll tax regulations.
Accounts Payable Administration
- Oversee processing of employee expense reports, vendor invoices, and purchase order vouchers withinCostpoint.
- Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments and maintain complete AP documentation.
- Administer the corporateAmerican Expresscard program, including coding, reconciliation, documentation review, and posting of expenses.
- Support audit requirements through accurate recordkeeping and compliance with internal controls.
Accounting & Month-End Close
- Lead month0end and year0end close activities, ensuring timely completion of all deliverables.
- Prepare and post payroll0related journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Calculate and record direct, subcontractor, and indirect expense accruals.
- Analyze budget vs. actual results and investigate variances.
- Collaborate with Accounting and Finance teams to support financial reporting and backlog maintenance.
Process Improvement & Documentation
- Update and maintain payroll and AP policies, procedures, and internal documentation.
- Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, internal controls, and compliance.
- Create and maintain employee 5chow0to5d guides for timesheet and expense reporting processes in Costpoint.
Leadership & Team Support
- Supervise, train, and mentor a two0person Accounts Payable team.
- Provide day0to0day oversight, workload prioritization, and performance support.
- Serve as backup for all Payroll and AP functions to ensure continuity of operations.
- Partner with internal stakeholders0including Contracts, Project Management, and external payment offices such as DFAS0to resolve billing or payment matters when needed.
Compliance & Specialized Knowledge
- Maintain working knowledge ofGAAP, CAS, FAR, and federal contractor accounting requirements.
- Support DCAA and external audits through accurate documentation and timely responses.
- Possess working knowledge of equity compensation programs, including:
- Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
- Payroll tax withholding for equity transactions
- Tax implications of employee stock purchases and sales
- Coordination of equity0related payroll reporting
- Must have the ability to communicate accurate information
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; advanced credentials (CPA, CMA) preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including federal government contracting.
- Experience managing payroll and accounts payable operations.
- Strong proficiency inADP Workforce Now,ADP SmartCompliance, andDeltek Costpoint.
- Demonstrated knowledge of multi0state payroll compliance and federal contracting requirements (WAWF familiarity preferred).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting/reporting tools.
- Ability to support DCAA and external audits.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
