The Accounting Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the accounting team, including mentoring, coaching and developing team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversees accounting operations, including financial accounting, property & sales tax compliance, and general ledger activities
• Manages cost accounting processes, inventory reconciliations, and partners with manufacturing team to research and resolve discrepancies
• Supervises a team of 2-4 team members and provides training and mentoring to develop them for future growth within a rapidly expanding company
• Recruits and hires accounting staff and conducts performance evaluations
• Oversees close activities while driving accuracy, consistency, and timely completion
• Ensures balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and timely and performs accounting of complex balance sheet accounts
• Ensures financial reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards
• Establishes new internal policies and process improvements to increase productivity and efficiency
• Leads property and sales tax compliance activities with internal team and external service providers
• Prepares and reviews financial and property/sales tax related schedules to support annual financial and compliance audits
• Provides timely and consistent communication and insight to all departments
• Builds and maintains business relationships with internal and external partners to proactively identify, research, and resolve issues
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Complies with local, state, and federal government requirements
• Participates in special projects, analysis, and ad-hoc tasks as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required
• 7+ years of related accounting experience with increasing responsibility required - manufacturing, cost accounting, and Property/sales tax experience a plus
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, develop staff, and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
• Experience with leading month-end close processes
• Proficiency in accounting software
• Proven analytical skills, strong organizational abilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong Excel proficiency
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
