Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Accounting & Finance Manager-Construction in the real estate development sector in Toronto,, Ontario.

Accountabilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen project controls, streamline workflows, and improve financial governance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Construction Accounting team while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Project Managers and construction teams to develop budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and financial plans across multiple active projects.
  • Lead project financial performance by monitoring costs, analyzing variances, and providing actionable insights to support operational decisions.
  • Oversee project funding, including monthly progress draws, lender submissions, cash flow, and payment approvals.
  • Establish financial frameworks for new developments, including budgets, tender analysis, cost structures, and project setup.
  • Deliver accurate month-end reporting, forecasting, dashboards, and financial analysis to support executive decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement by enhancing financial systems, reporting, automation, and construction accounting processes.

The successful candidate brings:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline
  • CPA designation required; public accounting or audit experience with a recognized firm is highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in construction, project, or management accounting, ideally within real estate development or other project-based industries.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, costing, financial analysis, and business partnering.
  • Knowledge of Ontario construction accounting practices, including progress draws, holdbacks, and the Construction Act, is considered an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
