Description

Markon is seeking an experienced Accountant to support the Intelligence Community customer by performing a broad range of accounting, financial management, and fiscal control activities. This role is responsible for analyzing financial information, maintaining financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with federal accounting standards and sponsor policies. Working collaboratively with financial managers and mission stakeholders, the Accountant provides technical accounting expertise, strengthens financial controls, and supports informed financial decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day accounting and financial activities within the assigned organization.
  • Analyze financial information, including bank accounts, billing statements, financial statements, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), tax records, and sponsor financial systems to identify discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
  • Prepare, review, and reconcile General Ledger accounts, financial records, accruals, and supporting documentation.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies while recommending corrective actions for complex financial issues.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to managers, customers, and financial staff.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies, financial procedures, and internal controls.
  • Review financial processes and recommend improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Prepare financial reports, analyses, and briefings for management and mission stakeholders.
  • Maintain accounting data within sponsor financial systems while ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal accounting standards.
  • Support financial forecasting, budgeting, and Working Capital Fund activities, including analysis of financial statements and related financial data.
  • Participate in financial system enhancements, functional testing, and development of ad hoc financial reports.
  • Support audits, tax reporting activities, reconciliations, and other financial management initiatives as assigned.
  • Assign, prioritize, and monitor contractor workload within the assigned accounting function.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Government financial regulations, sponsor policies, and accounting standards.


Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree required. A degree in Accounting or a related field with 24 accounting credit hours is preferred but not required.
  • 4 years of professional accounting experience with demonstrated knowledge of financial management, accounting, auditing, or fiscal control.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) standards.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements, General Ledger accounts, reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Experience identifying financial discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple organizations.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal government financial management or Intelligence Community organizations.
  • Knowledge of federal appropriations law and government financial regulations.
  • Experience with Working Capital Fund accounting and financial analysis.
  • Experience supporting financial system implementations, testing, or enhancements.
  • Experience preparing tax documentation or supporting government audit activities.
  • Experience with enterprise accounting or financial management systems.
  • Experience developing financial forecasts and supporting budget planning.


Salary Range

USD $105,000.00 - USD $115,000.00 /Yr.

The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
