Role Overview We are seeking an Account Supervisor, Media Relations to join RH Strategic in Washington, D.C. This role is ideal for professionals who understand how strategic communications, media engagement, and public affairs intersect to shape policy, regulatory, and business outcomes. The Account Supervisor will serve as a senior advisor to technology, education, and healthcare clients, help them navigate complex issues, identify opportunities to influence key conversations, and develop and execute earned media strategies that advance organizational objectives. Qualified candidates bring deep experience operating in the D.C. policy ecosystem, strong relationships with national and influential policy-focused journalists, and a proven ability to translate complex issues into compelling narratives that resonate with decision-makers and stakeholders. This role will demonstrate a strong track record of securing media coverage in top-tier and emerging content platforms. This is a full-time role based in Washington, D.C., requiring an in-office presence of at least three days per week. To be qualified, candidates must currently reside in the DMV metro area. Responsibilities: - Lead and execute earned media strategies that advance client business, policy, and reputation objectives and that shape industry, policy, and public conversations. - Develop fresh storytelling and compelling angles that breakthrough the media ecosystem. - Secure top-tier media placements across print, digital, and broadcast platforms, leveraging strong relationships with reporters, editors, and producers to generate meaningful client outcomes. - Build and maintain strong media relationships, while guiding and mentoring team members on relationship development and best practices for outreach and engagement. - Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic counsel on media positioning, narrative development, spokesperson readiness, and stakeholder engagement. - Oversee the development of media-facing materials and messaging, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with broader communications objectives. - Counsel clients through reputational, issues management, and crisis communications situations by providing guidance on risk mitigation, rapid response, and media engagement. - Measure and communicate the impact of earned media efforts, using insights to refine strategy and demonstrate business and policy outcomes. - Contribute to the evolution of RH Strategic's earned media approach - identify new channels, platforms, and opportunities to engage influential audiences. Basic Qualifications: - 6+ years of experience leading earned media strategies, with a demonstrated track record of securing high-impact national and policy-focused coverage. - Background in supporting clients in technology, education, and/or healthcare. - Recent public relations agency experience advising clients on complex communications, public affairs, or policy. - Deep understanding of the D.C. media and policy landscape, with established, current relationships across key national, trade, and influential media outlets. - Strong leadership skills, with experience managing integrated media programs, mentoring teams, and driving high-quality execution in fast-paced environments. - Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility with clients, journalists, and internal stakeholders. - Sound judgment and ability to navigate sensitive, high-profile, and rapidly evolving issues with professionalism. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience integrating earned media with broader stakeholder engagement, advocacy, digital, or executive visibility programs. - Existing network within D.C.'s media, policy, and influencer ecosystem. - Team management, including direct supervision. Pay and Benefits Salary: $95,000-$120,000 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. The Company may, in its discretion, also offer an annual bonus in an amount, if any, to be determined by the Company. Bonuses are not guaranteed.
