Senior Account Manager

About the Opportunity

Our client, a global manufacturer of engineered sealing, polymer, and wear-resistant solutions serving the energy, petrochemical, power generation, and industrial markets, is seeking a Senior Account Manager - Rotating Equipment to drive strategic growth across key OEM and end-user accounts.

This position is ideal for a commercially driven professional with a strong technical background in API 610 pumps, rotating equipment, sealing systems, and engineered materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategic customer relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and positioning innovative sealing and wear component solutions with major OEMs, EPC firms, repair facilities, and end users.

This role requires a consultative sales approach, technical credibility, and the ability to engage stakeholders ranging from engineers and procurement teams to executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Account Growth & Business Development

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to drive revenue growth within assigned rotating equipment and pump OEM accounts.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across OEMs, EPC firms, repair facilities, and end-user organizations.
  • Expand relationships within existing accounts while identifying opportunities for specification growth and market penetration.
  • Build annual business plans, forecasts, and pricing strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Consistently achieve or exceed revenue, margin, and growth targets.
Technical Sales & Customer Engagement

  • Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned accounts, supporting both technical and business discussions.
  • Promote sealing, wear-resistant, and engineered material solutions into customer specifications, approved vendor lists, and new equipment designs.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand application requirements, performance challenges, and reliability objectives.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle, including opportunity development, proposal preparation, negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Support product qualification, material selection, and application-specific solution development.
Strategic Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with engineering, procurement, operations, and executive leadership teams within customer organizations.
  • Conduct regular business reviews and account planning sessions to identify growth opportunities and strengthen customer partnerships.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and proactively address service, quality, or supply concerns.
  • Position the organization as a strategic partner through technical expertise, responsiveness, and value-added solutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with engineering, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer support teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Coordinate resources to support customer qualification programs, product launches, and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting, and opportunity tracking using CRM systems.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of account management, business development, or technical sales experience within rotating equipment, pumps, sealing technologies, or related industrial markets.
  • Strong understanding of API 610 centrifugal pumps, sealing systems, wear components, and rotating equipment applications.
  • Proven success managing complex technical sales cycles and developing strategic customer relationships.
  • Experience influencing engineering specifications, approved vendor lists, or qualification programs.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Oracle CRM, or similar systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 50-70% domestically, with occasional international travel.
Preferred

  • Experience working with major pump OEMs, EPC firms, or rotating equipment manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of polymer, elastomer, thermoplastic, or engineered sealing technologies.
  • Experience within oil & gas, petrochemical, LNG, refining, midstream, power generation, or industrial process markets.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as API, ISO, NORSOK, or related compliance requirements.
  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
